Can kobe break kareem's record of most points scored in their career?

AI was actually at a faster pace to 20,000 than Kobe was, but he's gonna retire within 2-3 years.

hahahaha....AI is NOT going to retire in 2-3 years....dude is still droppin 30+ points whenever he wants. hes dominant as a lil guy to this day.

And quite frankly (word to Stephen A.), I don't think he has a desire to play another decade+.
You smoking rocks. Kobe's desire in life is to play basketball till his body says no.

^ So you know him then?

I mean, it's one to thing to disagree and give your opinion that you disagree with me. But you aren't coming across like, "Hmmm... I thinkyou're wrong." You're coming across like, "Nope. You're definitely wrong. I know."

So that begs the question: how?

How do you know?

Do you know him? Have you been in discussion with him, picked his brain, analyzed his desires for life?

If not, you're hardly worthy of speaking so definitively on his behalf. "I know his desire is to play ball until his bones rot." No...no you don't know that at all.

He wont even beat Karl Malones

^ That's true.

But Karl Malone was still better than Greg Ostertag, Jeff Hornacek, and other people who played any length of time with Stockton.

That's true, but would you really want to pass to Ostertag rather than Malone anyways if you were Stockton?

If they were equally talented, it wouldn't make a difference to me.

If one was the recipient of more of my passes, then it would be because he was better.

i think Kobe will finish his career in the # 4 or #5 spot on the list since he's currently at the #30 spot on the list. I believe his scoringwill go down because he will get more help alongside him and Bynum might become a serious force inside. So I have him no higher than the #4 spot but no lowerthan the #5 spot. It would put him behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), Michael Jordan (32,292), & possibly Wilt Chamberlain(31,419).

yeah it's kinda hard to tell it's so many things factoring in the way of kobe reaching it because there's injuries, new players coming in and outof the lakers organization so yeah but dwight howard has a good chance because he controls the paint but lebron has a chance too he takes any shot that hewants when he wants to.

How do you know he doesn't have the desire to play 8 to 10 years

^ I don't.

But I never said that.

I said, "I don't think..."

Huge difference.

HUGE.

He wont, he basically needs to score almost another 20k points. If he played like he did the last 2 years then i could say maybe but he has changed his game tomore of a team player while still scoring.

he can, but he wont.

those first few years being so young hurt his chances.

also all the years with shaq brought his scoring avg down.

lebron has the best chance to do it since hes younger and was the #1 option from day 1, unlike kobe.

its not that lebron is better, its just that his situation puts him in a better position to beat kareems record than kobe.

He can thank the man next to him in your avy for most of those points.
Why do you put a negative spin on what Malone did? I swear, whenever there's a thread praising Stockton, someone mentions that he was goodbecause Malone gave him all those assists and whenever someone is praising Malone, someone comes in and says that he was good because Stockton gave him allthose points.

I'm not trying to give a negative spin to Malone he was a great player, but he did get most of his points from Stockton and Stockton got most of his assistbecause of Malone. To me that's not a bad thing. They just played perfectly together. I can't hate on either of them.

No, his gameplay is totally different from the last 2 seasons, and he won't score as much points. I agree with ska on every point.

No...he has too much respect for these players, hes the few players that are very knowledgeable of the game...you can't say that about 99% of the playersin the league
