FDNY/Firefighter exam preperation?

Excuse the bump, I was googling a question and this thread came up.

Anyone still in the race? I actually just passed the CPAT (physical exam) portion recently.

Still in process. I don't want to speak prematurely but the rumor is my class will head into the academy January 2015.

I just passed the medical yesterday actually and let me tell you right now .... Cardio, cardio, cardio. And get a 50lbs vest and join a gym with a stairmaster and practice. Build up enough endurance take get to 60 steps per min for 10 min with the 50lbs best on.

Because during the CPAT and medical both which you have to wear the vest during the stairmaster were the most physically grueling experiences ever. So invest in a vest and start asap.

I went for the CPAt info on Wednesday...

I start the practice for physical Sept 16 :pimp: :pimp:

What list number are you guys? I'm 19xx

haha probably so. Im going tommorow morning for the cpat info session

Definitely must be in the same class if we both are just doing the CPAT info...

I signed up for the CPAT practice on every Tuesday starting the 16th

I wanted to go to the info session today, and training but my work schedule is crazy right now. Is the physical much harder then the EMS physical. I passed that, but had a horrible Investigator and never got called up.

I'm still interested in having a mentor assigned to me.

Heading over to the information session right now actually. Already signed up to have a mentor assigned to me.

Google fdny forum and the first one that pops up has a huge thread with a tremendous amount of useful information.

just came from the info session today. Very informative. I will be traIning on ssturdays.... but to answer ur question the lieutenant was saying that a former marine had stated that the academy for fdny was more challenging than the marines boot camp. So train your butt off

You missed a lot at the info session. I think you may have missed the cpat training sign up too which will push you back further. If you haven't and you really want this I advise you to sign up to the mentorship program. At the very least your mentor can help prepare you for what's to come.

Edit: That was for blackngold1z. I'm on my phone not sure what happened.

I'm in the same boat. The waiting is killing me.

I took the physical back in April and didn't hear anything new until September. Patience. Focus on getting your intake paperwork together.

drillest drillest

Looking like a definite for the December/January class... Heard they cut off around 2600 for this June class, so basically if I pass the pshyc and 1.5 mil run I'm good for it

Where you up to?
