Cleveland Browns v. S.F. 49ers: Official Gameday Post Vol. GO COLTS!!!!!!

Is this right?

TEN wins + CLE ties = TEN advances (doesn't matter, because that can't happen)
TEN wins + CLE loses = TEN advances (doesn't matter, because that can't happen)

CLE wins + TEN ties = CLE advances
CLE wins + TEN loses = CLE advances

TEN wins + CLE wins = TEN advances
CLE loses + TEN loses = TEN advances (doesn't matter, because that can't happen)

i think you could really simplify that to basically...if the titans win they're in, if the titans lose the browns are in. so part of your thing is wrong ibelieve..because barring ties, the browns are in the same position winning or losing this game.because i highly doubt there'll be a tie...but then again unever know

^ How would it be different if both teams lost or if both teams won? To me, both teams losing, both teams winning, or both teams tying should yield the sameresult. No?

Sorry. I'm not this huge NFL fan, and every year, this scenario comes up with a few teams and I get lost. Just so happens that this year, it's my team.

The tiebreaker is their record vs the AFC.

beacuse the Browns played an NFC team today, that record was not affected (game meant nothing) but TEN is playing an AFC team so that tiebreaker record will beaffected by the outcome.

Ah, that's right; conference record.

And then if that were tied, they go to divisional records, right?

Then what?

After Conference record it goes to Common Opponents, in which the Titans have the advantage.

Is common opponents like saying, "Alright, both teams played the Jets, Vikings, and Packers. Let's see who did better against those 3"?

I kind of get a kick out of these weird permutations - especially in big tournaments.

There was one recently where if a game had finished a certain way it would have gone to a tiebreaker and all the stuff they usually use was tied - all the waydown.

It was a rugby tournament and the last resort is a goal-kicking contest. I was looking forward to watching the big galoots from the front row having to take akick.

Didn't happen though...

CLE wins + TEN ties = CLE advances
CLE wins + TEN loses = CLE advances

TEN wins + CLE wins = TEN advances

In a nutshell. Basically if TEN don't win (which includes tying) they don't advance.
