Western Canada Thread - Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C.

hey guys!

I completely forgot about this thread that I created on the old NikeTalk.

Nice to see the new names here.

I'm sure Sask has a FL or Champs somewhere. You just gotta put in the work to call and see if they're gonna participate in any of the releases.

anyone here in CAlgary ever been to Group Seven? hows the selection and sizes?

Its pretty decent. I liked Livestock better personally when it was open, but G7 gets a good majority of limited releases in Canada.

Pretty picked through last time I was there.

Searching for the KD6 Christmas but can't find a Canadian store that either has a website or accepts phone orders. My local retailer couldn't get any and my size (9.5) sold out on Eastbay early on release day.

I know it probably doesnt help, but Ive seen both Christmas KD's and Lebrons in FSR in Calgary and Edmonton. If you have friends or family in either, get them to scoop you a pair.

This.. The price is steep so no one is really picking it up

follow then on instagram. they're the only place that got AJ1 Bred and they got it 2 weeks late because the shipping got messed up. they got 22 pairs, FSR. and you had to be picked from a raffle to be to buy a pair.

anyone ever waited at Chinook Centre in the morning before release? The mall doesn't open till like 9:00am, where do the people line up? At the front door entrance of the mall? OR do the guards open the mall early to let people line up outside Champs/Footlocker?

Mall is physically open at 4am. If you need to be there before then, you can wait inside the mall entrance so at least you can stay warm! How early you need to be to chinook is almost entirely dictated by the size of your feet.

oh wow didn't know that, thanks man… are there always a lo of people already lined up at around 4 am or earlier come release date?

Depends on the release and your size. ASG this past weekend, if you wanted kobes in a Size smaller than 10 you woulda had to be there at like 3am. Me I got there at 7 and got my size 11; lebrons didn't even have a line... So it really depends.

Month or so back when gamma 12's dropped, I rolled in at noon and got mine. Typically the hype you read on NT is direct proportional to the line we see in Calgary... Tons of beasts here

PM me if you ever want the low down on a release and I can tell you when to be there.

^man, hype nowadays in Calgary is real … I remember when Champs was still on the first floor (where town shoes is at now), and I just stroll late in the afternoon to cop… Now? We have to line up at 3 am?

Getting the same thing in Edmonton.  If it keeps going like this, we may have some higher tier stores soon.

Yup. My buddy works at the Apple Store and for Gamma's people were there the night before. It's crazy. Good news is it's most only for Hyped J's. So if you want something else can usually just roll in for mall open and grab em without the line.

Really hoping we get something like Livestock back, I've also considered starting one myself but the Nike account structure would sink a store here. You need hype shoes out of the gate.

It's honestly so pathetic in Calgary...

Whent he Gamma's released, my wife and I walked past FL in Chinook, and people were lined up at 8PM the night prior!!!

It's a thin line IMO, because all the people lined up were kids. And I'll keep it 100, if they're trying to hustle and make a hundred for waiting in line, I can't knock their hustle.

But I remember lining up once and when I walked out, there were a ton of kids taking pics of their shoes throwing them on Kijiji or eBay. You can even hear all the kids talking about dollar value (one guy put a pair of Gamma's for $550... seriously lick my friggin balls buddy).

Some guys I've met are reasonable, they put a couple bucks on top, no biggie.

But these beasts out here in Calgary, throwing a pair of shoes for an extra $300? I'm all about the culture, and when you're just puting these kind of prices up, just negative energy I suppose.

Myself, I purchase US dollars when we're at par, than purchase shoes on eBay for decent prices. Most of the time, I'm paying Canadian retail (got 2 pairs of XX8 Bamboo for $330 CDN each shipping included). If a pair of XX8 bamboo's released here, I'd have to wait in line and probably pay either $300 or under $350.

I also have a box in Sweetgrass, so purchase shoes in the States, get them shipped to Montana, take a nice drive down on the weekend and pick up like 10 pairs in one shot. Never had to pay duties, never had any issues at the borders, nothing.

If anyone has any questions about the Montana shipping, let me know, I'm always up for helping out fellow collectors.

Sorry for the rant, I'm bored at work LOL.

Yeah I remember seeing that line too. I passed on the Gamma 11's because I wanted the Bred 1's. Little did I know that they'll release 2 weeks late because of shipping problems.

About the Montana thing, is that like when you buy something online and they don't ship to Canada?

Yup exactly, so usually either I'm shipping stuff from ebay or Nike.
Sometimes the odd place here and there, but I now have a better chance of getting high demand sneakers versus trying to buy one in Calgary or any other canadian retailers.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about Montana shipping.
