Too Much Negativity this year. What were the feel good stories?

Not even the best one of the year but just some good ones.

As a raps fan im partial to Anthony Parker's successful return to the NBA. (06/07) A first rounder who never caught on, he played fantastically in europefor years before returning to the NBA and becoming a solid role player/starter for a playoff team.

Oden/Durant and the attention they brought to college hoops.

The completion and opening of Dikembe Mutombo's hostpital in Feb. 07.

The story of the brother of the QB on some college team.
My mind is totally blank right now, but it was a good story.
Anybody want to help me out?

Brett Favre ballin

Kevin Everett recovery

are good, but...

The TOP FEEL GOOD STORY is....

Golden State Warriors playoff run/dismantling of the Dallas Mavericks

The autistic team manager (was that this year?)
i think that was last year....J-Mac

Josh Hamilton
Jon Lester

Brett Favre?

nah, not exactly "feel-good."

that's not exactly a 2007 story, but it ESPN just brought it to our attention this year. i believe you're talking about the Clemsonfootball player, i don't think he's a QB, who takes care of his little brother.

Grant Hill?

Dude is balling again.

Unfortunately, it's his first time playing for a team that actually has offensive AND defensive plays called 'Flop 1', 'Triple Flop', and'Alley-Flop'. We've seeing him flop more in the last couple months than he has his entire career, but still, I mentally applaud his every game.

Jon Amaechi

NCAAFB upsets

Patriots 16-0

Kobe being the youngest to 20,000 points

Colorado Rockies surprising season

Adrian Peterson sets a new single-game rushing record by rushing for 296 yard.

Florida Gators owning the Buckeyes at the gridiron and basketball.

The Bears losing the Super Bowl to the Colts.

Team USA winning the FIBA.

none those fit in this thread. maybe college football upsets which would only include App. State over Michigan, maybe.

Oy vey, that list might further the argument that we lacked a significant feel-good story this year. Most of those are good sports stories, but notfeel-good stories.

Jon Amaechi: no longer plays, so it's kind of hard for people to embrace him since coming out... whichprobably wouldn't happen even if he did play (I'm not saying that's right; I'm just saying it probably wouldn't happen)
NCAAFB upsets: the general public doesn't really care about an upset; that's just a sportsfan's thing

Patriots 16-0: the public will embrace this, but only if they complete the season undefeated

Kobe being the youngest to 20,000 points: see 'NCAAFB upsets', except that even fewer sports fans willcare about this

Colorado Rockies surprising season: he never touched home. Nobody likes fraudulent victories... which was THEtheme for 2007.

Adrian Peterson sets a new single-game rushing record by rushing for 296 yard: THIS... is a feel good story, especially reading this article in ESPN the Mag about him and his dad. I mentioned Grant Hill before, but I feel good for Adrian Peterson as well. Hissingle-game mark isn't the feel-good story, but his story overall is.

Florida Gators owning the Buckeyes at the gridiron and basketball: again, this is just a sports fan's thing.Although it's pretty funny, two school meet for two different championships and the same school emerges victorious each time, that's only relevant tosports fans.

The Bears losing the Super Bowl to the Colts: I have no idea how this is even being nominated.

Team USA winning the FIBA: or this. We should have never lost gold, so regaining it wasn't really that big ofa story.

randy moss rejuvenating his career and shutting all of the doubters/critics/haters up while having a career year and snatching back his rightful crown as thebest receiver in football.

dmitri young rebounding from a list of mishaps and misfortunes to win comeback player of the year.

Ray Ray McElrathbey

He's the Clemson football player who adopted his 11 year old brother. I think this was in 2006

I made a thread a few days ago on what the most negative effect of this year's sports stories was.

The best positive sports story.... Warriors? Kevin Everett?

IMO, the negitivity definately overpowers the positive stories.

Sylvester Croom turning around Mississippi State's football program...

... OK, so I'm a little biased, lol.

the UNC mascot who died, but gave his organs up...there was something on ESPN a few weeks ago with all the families of those who recieved his organs.

^ Oh man, good call.

Dude died in a car accident ON HIS WAY to a game in the tournament, didn't he?

Definitely a special story, right there; people walking around, living and breathing, with HIS donated organs in their bodies.

The most special part to ME was that has dad was not completely for him being a donor, but the kid wanted to be that, so he was. The special part to me is thatthe dad followed through with his son's desires, even though they were different than his own.

Yup, that is definately a great story there. I mean, you hate to see someone with so much potential with life be killed in an accident. But to see the outcomeof his death was something special.
