I haven't read too much of it so far, but I've heard it's too good to keep to yourself.

this can keep all the people who spoil the real show out of the other thread...THANK YOU OP

The issue I have with the comic book is the same issue I have with the show: poor pacing. There are 4 or 5 issues of intense action/drama followed by 4 or 5 issues of boring dialogue. Since the "No Way Out" storyline ended its been pretty boring. I'm interested to see who was watching the group at the end of issue 91, although I have an idea who it is. If you remember in issue 75, Douglas mentioned that they banished a man named Alexander Davidson, the founder of the safe zone. They assumed he died but I think its him watching them. Hopefully something exciting happens next issue.

It's been so slow there's nothing to really talk about. They're in the town, trying to fortify defenses, some of the ppl who been there are getting antsy ready to turn on Rick's crew, Carl's still recovering and has memory loss, and then there's drama with the relationships and ppl like Michonne, Rick mourning ppl they were getting intimate with.

Nothing exciting going on slightly interesting right now. I'm actually going to wait until like 10 issues rack up before I start reading again. I left off on issue 88.

Unless ppl want to speculate what'll force Rick's crew to leave this place? When they do move I hope they make it to NYC next

I want to read the comic books. Where can I start ?
I saw the iPhone app has them at $2 a comic. Any books for issues 1- a couple before the latest ?

^ after going through The Walking Dead Wiki I couldn't resist buying the app. I prefer reading comics the original way, on paper, but digital isn't too bad. Question though, are you referring to the comicx app or The Walking Dead app? I have the Walking Dead app and some of the most recent issues are like $10. Either way I enjoy the app and I definitely recommend it.

Before I discuss where I'm at in the comics I would like to get an idea of where some of you guys are. Don't want to spoil anything for anyone that plans on reading them. I'm pretty up to date, currently on issue 90.

P.S. I started at issue 1 even though I knew what would happen. It's worth it IMO.

Also, anybody thinks there might be a time skip? I think it would be kinda cool to see Carl grown up with an eye patch being a badass.

Is 91 out? Only thing interesting is Andrea and Rick? lol finally something happens between those two.
EDIT: Speaking of something like that with Carl and eye patch. I forget which issue, but the one with Rick waking up and it's the future along with most of the original group. They're fighting off zombies aliens or whatever. I know it was to showcase the other comic but it was so cool.

I've been getting them on ComicsX app on my IPhone. The interaction is solid and reading digital isn't too bad.
Yeah issue 91 got out... patiently waiting for 92.

You guys that are starting are lucky. 91 straight issues to read.

This might be the first comic I actually read to be honest. I guess digital could be cool.
Thank for the recommendation. Just downloaded the iPhone app "ComicZeal4" which allows me to load .cbr files. I just have to load all issues through iTunes and the app will read the files.

well for me at least nothing will be spoiled i'm caught up in every single comic...
i'm just surprised at what happened the last issue, about who got with who...

i think they make a good couple now.

Has anybody read "The Rise of the Governor" companion book?
It was pretty good imo.

There used to be a site that had all of the issues but it got shut down
right when the show started. Now I just google the issues in PDF and read
them on a downloader app

If you are buying each issue for $2 a pop, why not just buy the "books".  They are available on Amazon for about $18-22, it's a hard cover, and each has about 10-12 issues per.  Definitely worth it and makes it more "collectible".

This page has way too many spoilers, maybe we should go book by book, we can even point out the differences with the tv show.

Spoiler [+]
Book 1:
Chapter 1: Days Gone By
- I liked how the beginning of the tv show stayed really true to the comic.  How Rick ended up in the hospital, when he woke up, and how he got home.  Even down to seeing that half-bodied zombie and then returning to kill it.
- Also liked the tv version of how Rick got introduced to the group.  It seemed more in depth, and really liked the "Tank scene" and how he runs into Glenn via two way radio.  In the comic, Glenn saves Rick and they run a few steps into the forest.  The forest and city seem too damn close as opposed to the tv show which shows there is major distance between the two.
- Shane is the legit leader of the group, he is Rick from the tv show, and it's crazy how he just falls off when Rick comes back.  He just falls apart because of Lori.  I really like how they developed the tv version of Shane.  When he got offed by Carl in the comic,

, just threw me off.
- Shane refuses to move camp, and people just listen.  Also, there is no Daryl, so tv gets another point since Daryl is a solid character.
- Still don't know where "T-Dog" comes in.
- They nixed Donna/Allen and the twins and created Ed and Carol.  Carol also seemed a lot younger than what they made her to be on tv, husband was already dead in the comic.
- Dale also seems older in the tv version, and Dale/Andrea is more of a father/daughter on tv as opposed to a....sexual relationship in the comic.
- Also the "Walkers" in the comic are dumb and slow, on the show they run...

Chapter 2: Miles Behind Us
- Why no Tyrese in the tv show, he's a strong character.  T-Dog really serves no purpose.  Tyrese is not as bad $!% as Daryl but he's an integral part of the group in the comic, and is really close to Carol.
- Wilshire Estates would've been a great episode full of action, too bad it got skipped on the show.  Budget cuts?  Wilshire Estates = Center for Disease Control, nah.  Guess writers/producers/directors skipped that in order to focus on the gang making to the CDC.
-Season 1 was only six episodes and Season 2 got a full slate and it has dragged.  I love the show but it has dragged a ton in Season 2.  They were on the road for too long, waiting for Sophie for too long, just felt like they were there forever.  Now they are at Herschel's farm.  Still all that took way too long, should of been a 2-4 episode arc instead of the 7 it has taken.
- Herschel's family got reduced, Otis is too fat in the tv show.
- Also, Carl's wound is grossly exaggerated on the tv show, it's a simple shoulder wound in the comic.  I guess they had to develop Shane's crazy side by sending him to the HS to get supplies with an overweight and somewhat useless Otis.  Shane makes him useful by shooting him and making him a meal so he can getaway.
- The Barn with walkers exists on Herschel's farm in the tv show and in the comic.  I won't spoil it, don't need more tears.

- Glenn smashing Maggie, let's see if he simps on the tv show like he did in the comic.
- Wonder if they find the prison on the tv show?

This is off the top of my head.

Bout to pull the trigger on Book 2, hoping a Black Friday deal pops up...

Correction about The Walking Dead app, recent issues are around $2. You can also purchase by the volume. Each volume is about 1-7 issues priced $8 and $10.

I've been reading through the whole prison/Governor issues as of late and I REALLY can't wait til Michonne is introduced on the TV show (assuming she is, I mean they did skip Tyreese's character

They didn't skip Tyrese's character. They're still on the farm on the show. Haven't even got to the prison or been attacked by a huge wave zombies.
