i think thats the point of the kids.
while carl was growing up fast alongside rick, these kids were protected and safe for the most part.
they simply dont know any better, and are so arrogant because in their safety they think theyre tougher than they are.

Reminds me of when Rick and co. first came there after dealing with Neagan and then after a while that one guy was secretly working against Rick behind his back and then tried to betray him to Neagan and got what he deserved and then got killeddon't know why those dumbass kids needed to do any of that
