So the question now is, if you were in an NBA game with nobody defending you and you were 100% healthy and fresh, and you had all the time in the world to get set and shoot, and the crowd was quiet and let you concentrate, and you were properly warmed up, and you get as many tries as you need, and you don't have to move at all from your spot, then...... Would you make a shot?

IMO 99% of us wouldn't get any points and probably be blocked 5 or 6 times until we learned to stop shooting. Lol. Again IMO

9-12

....i'd just hit corner 3's lol

nervousness the only thing that might stop me...ima deadly shooter

These type of threads should be banned at this point. It's starting to piss me off to see ppl overrate themselves and underrate how quickly nba players can cover ground.

it's starting to piss me off to see you think that NBA players always cover that ground. danny green is shooting above 50% from 3 in the finals, and he's still catching open looks.

because they can cover ground fast =/= they WILL cover ground fast.

not to mention, you think an opposing coach sees you on the court, he's not thinking to himself "yeah we'll live with that guy shooting."

i'm not sitting here saying i'd easily average 5+ points or even 3+ points for that matter. but if given the opportunity to hit an open 3 in an NBA game, i think i could do it.

Thing is, Danny Green doesn't need time to set up his shot so even if he was only open for a second it'd look like he was open for days.

99 percent of the video the defender was able to get a hand up. There were a couple times the defender gets in his circle but didn't get a hand up. That's just a testament to his release. There was like two or three examples where no one bothered to close out.

Imo that video helps me out better than it helps you. Most of those threes would be considered your typical open shot in the nba.

My point is, who are you who's probably never seen any of us play to think one of us couldn't hit one shot?

so you assume everybody not in the league just shoots the same slow *** jumper?

Nevermind that you won't go a lot of those looks because he's seeing things on the court you never would at that speed... Look at how quick his damn release is...

Thabo shot 42% from 3 last season and he needs at least 4 seconds to get his off. Sticking with the same team, against the Thunder you will get PLENTY of wide open 3 pt looks especially out of the corner because they overhelp and don't even make half *** efforts to close out. I'm not saying anybody on NT would be all stars or even score double digits, but if you were on the court for enough minutes, you'd get open look opportunities.

It's annoying man. These dudes in here couldn't make Clemson or St Johns roster but would score a couple buckets in a NBA. Dudes clearly don't understand the game of basketball like they think they do. speed and size NBA players play at is unreal. you have great college players come in the league and cant adjust to the speed. You not hitting a open J with a 6'8 wing closing with his hand up. It's not happening. Not from the trey ball line. I bet 98% of the dudes in here couldn't go to a Pro-am summer leauge game and get a bucket but you'll get one in the L? Stop it.

This is my thing, your shot is not as quick as his, and i doubt you have the NBA experience to find the open spot for the spot up. Plus your endurance won't allow you to finish off these shots bc you don't shoot NBA range in regular pickup. Then you have go come down the court and chase Dwane Wade on D. You dudes are forgetting its more to ball then putting up shots. You can't take the grind of a NBA game fresh off your couch it ain't happening.

this thread reminds me of how I used to think I was already better than some NBA players when I was like 8 lol. I was by far the best player in my class and i'd be on the court thinking about how i'm definitely going to grow up to play in the NBA. I remember thinking that I could definitely beat someone like Bryant reeves already just because he was on the crappy grizzlies back in the day

none of you guys would score anything in the NBA. neither would the 8 year old me or the current me. if you legitimately think you would, then kudos.

An open pickup game shot =/= open NBA game shot

In terms of amount of time your'e gonna be open, distance from rim, and length of the defenders

All NTers should not be created equal.

While there are many young high school kids on here, there are also some grown men who have played basketball at a very high level.

With that being said, there is no doubt in my mind that if I got a few of those looks Danny Green got in that video I would knock a few of them down myself

John Rogers had a basketball background. Plus it's clear Mj didn't take him seriously. Not sure what was the point of that video.

who said straight off the couch though dummy.

If you gave NT'ers 2 weeks of an NBA practice and conditioning than im sure we can get a few pts. Not applying to people who have no basketball experience.

Some people are in great shape on here. Boris Diaw out of shape. Lots of NBA players are out of shape.

You gotta be kidding me.

Diaw's fat self is keeping Lebron James in check in the NBA FINALS. And as shown in the Scalabrine video, a slow bench player can EASILY close out and shut down the best streetball players with minimal effort. Unless you got a Ray Allen type release or are 7 ft tall, doesn't matter how open you are, your *** is getting blocked or tipped in an NBA game
