Nike Please retro these

Air Trainer 93: Came out my last year of HS... Always wanted a pair & finally got a pair 5-6 years ago off eBay. I found them a little stiff/yellowed but then again they were old.

Nike made kicks back then with good quality leather that would last & wider, roomier toeboxes

I also would like to see a retro but only in the OG colourway(s). Who knows? Nike is so random in what they retro this may happen.

OR more likely they WILL retro this but will end up in outlets.

Love, love, LOVE this shoe, but it would never work today.  The beauty in this shoe is in it's simplicity.  It's very understated, but it works so well because the quality and detail was so on point back then.  Quality leather, HUGE air bubble, etc... This thing would come out looking so plain and clunky if they did a retro nobody would give it a second look, let alone pay around $150 for it.

Wrong. Nike would limit it's exclusiveness to 23 or 50 or pick whatever number of "exclusive" pairs, sell it in QS fashion, use "newer" innovative materials & some eye-bleeding colourways, "reimagine" it a la some of the recent trainer models (Bo Jackson/Albert Pujols model comes to mind) dress it up in ostrich feathers, & attach it to the flavour of the month athlete... It'll sell then

In outlets.

It would be nice to go back to plain & simple. For most people, that works.

Good to see there are others who like them like I do. I would buy doubles and trash one of the pairs the first summer I could. Shout out to jbv1 for the pic, preciate that.

I love this shoe too, but I have to agree with this. The beauty of this show is in its simplicity. So many Nike shoes from this era executed the concept of simple beauty, mixed with just a splash of flash. The purple on this shoe being the flash here. Nike was great with the less is more design philosophy at this time, but it doesn't translate all that well to the mainstream market today.  These really jumped off the shelves when they were released, but today they'd be lost in the noise. What would work using quality materials and a release similar to the Trainer II SCs from this year. If they even try to please the average consumer in a re-release, they'll likely wind up losing those who represent the core demand for the original - and the mass version will flop anyway, so they'll lose on both sides.

I don't think they deserve to stay in the 90's. I also agree that they probably wouldn't sell well. I think the reason they did so well in the 90's is because at that time any shoe with a full heel unit was automatically viewed as a top tier shoe. Nowdays we can see how basic this shoe really was considering all that has taken place between the times these came out and now.

Yeah, I still love this shoe. I can understand those who have other models ahead of it on their retro wish list, but dismissing the shoe totally leads me to believe that those making those comments are younger than the shoes themselves.

This shoe is simple, but it's not nearly as "dated" as some other shoes the kiddies opine for despite most likely never having even seen a pair in person - like the Command Forces, Air Pressures, Air Force 180 Highs, Air Raid 2s, and so forth.

Love this shoe as well and would cop in a heartbeat - I had the Air Spats and these were just as ill. Like everyone said tho, I don't think it would sell well today.

^^^^ I had the air spats as well. I remembering already having the white deion's and copping the black spats as an alternative to the blk diamond turfs. More versatile imo cuz they were straight blk/wht.  Yeah, I don't really knock the youngsters who haven't seen shoes that haven't been retroed, they can't help when they were born. I actually belive they are a valuable tool for nike because they can give nike some idea of how a retro will be received from people other than us older cats who obviously are biased. At the same time that still doesn't explain some of the random retros we've seen and some of these crazy retro+ colorways. That alone tells me that anything is possible and gives me hope for these.

My personal theory is nike is using their classics to survive this economy/recession and they are rationing them out. The longer this goes on the more dope retros we will see. We still haven't seen air bowls, junior seau's, air max 96 and 98, and a bunch of others.

If I remember correctly, the pair I chose over these, partially because they were cheaper, was a low (or maybe mid) Air Accel in in the same color palette as the green and purple Air Carnivore. I used the difference in cash to cop a sail-colored pair of those canvas Guess boots. So, clearly I wasn't immune to bad judgment in my teenage years either...

Hi All,

I registered my account here after searching the web for the Air Trainer Max '92 for the gazillionth time.

Searching for my holy grail is something i do at least a few times a month.

It goes without saying that the Air Trainer Max '92 is one the best Hatfield's after the AM1 ofc.

My love for this shoe is without boundaries. I remember them hitting the stores. 2 colorways at first

This one: White / White -Black

And this never ever beaten master colorway: White / Purple Neon

I also remember a Viotech colorway:

And last (but certrainly not least) the: White / Grey Green / Lime

This Air Trainer Max'92 is up there with the best. It beats the Mowabb, Hurache and even the 180 in my book.

I would buy 10 pairs form each colorway if Nike were to retro these babies but so far nothing.

These shoes deserve a retro as much as any other iconic model. The beauty is indeed in it's simplicity.

Ans guess what? Simplicity scores big time. Why do you think vintage AM1 sell for crazy prices on online markets?

Because simplicity scores. The sheer beauty found in this simple and linear design is unparalleled. It scores big every single time.

So Nike.. Pretty please with sugar on top.. Retro these!

Kind regards...

Aaron

Wasnt the name air trainer max 93? Any how a beautiful shoe, but im afraid nike would butcher it with cheap leather.
