How do you store your sneakers?

xi's don't crumble, they just separate.

i store mine on an open shelf. no boxes, just some ikea clear front velcro shoe storage things to make use of more space.

silica pack in some boxes(don't have enough lol), paper on bottom and some in closet and others around the room.

I wear my shoes. I stopped "storing" when I found out that no matter what preventive measures you take, it won't save your shoes. I guarantee those og Concords up there won't last a week on some feet without peeling to hell. I should know, I held on to a pair for 14 years and had to sell them because I couldn't wear them anymore. I should've just worn them when I could've. Now I do, with all of my shoes.

Oh yea....

I don't recommend sillica packs for ALL jordans... I had 2 plastic bins of AJIII Fire Reds... one with sillica and one without. When I wore the one with sillica.. the paint cracked and the sides split open -- you could see it was due to dryness. When I wore the ones without... let's just say I am STILL rockin em today.

Oh.. and the place you live has a lot to do with it too. For example.. when I am in Beijing, the leather cracks due to the extreme weather. When I am back home in San Francisco...it's heaven...never too hot, never too cold, doesn't snow.... what can I say? =)

Original box and paper.
Paper is folded to the bottom.

Silica gel packs thrown in w/ clear soles.

Stored in room temperature.

Armor all treatment: Brown AA for Leather, Yellow for the midsoles and ice.
In UNSEALED zip lock bags so they can breathe.

One small silica pack in the box

Store in a cool dark place...I hang a "Damp Rid" hanger in my closet just above the shoes...I live in Florida so it has a tendency to get very very humid in the summer and spring...

All of the shoes with ice have black trash bags wrapped around the boxes with numerous holes punched in the bags so as to let the bags breathe but not let in light.  I also cut the bags and situate them as such so as not to restrict air flow to the shoes.

Also, place dryer sheets in the shoes to help them keep a decent smell and fresh, especially the ones I wear a lot.

But, I wear all of my kicks.  I think there is a lot to be said about putting the materials to use and getting them out on the streets and in the fresh air...

Yup. Just broke in a new pair of OG Concords for the first time a month or so ago. They seemed to be in fine enough condition, but after a while of wear, the sole separated. I just re-glued them, but the sole itself is perfectly in tact. I've never had problems with the sole of an XI staying in tact, but the clear outsole does separate. Just re-glue them carefully and they're good to go again.

what do you do with all the boxes?

nah man. Just threw them away. I realized I don't need them. They take up too much space anyway.
But aren't the clear boxes bigger than the shoe boxes anyway? I use clear boxes from the Container Store for all my pairs that lack their OG box, but those containers don't save any space over the shoe box.

The problem with getting rid of the boxes is that not having all the OG accessories hurts the resale value of the shoe. I don't normally sell my shoes, but why hurt the prospects of doing so if you're not actually going to save any space by switching the storage boxes?... Just my my two cents.

Most are just boxed up in closets. I get lazy often and will have like a 8 sneaker rotation just on the floor out. but the rest stacked in the box. no bags in a closet

Listen to this man. lol
In all honesty at the end of the day, their shoes.
They were meant to be worn. Enjoy wearing them not sitting boxes.

pretty much

Dry cool in the box is how I've kept mine and my shoes still look fresh although the only pair I've had for a year is the 13 playoffs. I picked up the shoe cleaner from the mall to get some oil outta my shoes and it worked I thought I was gonna have to scrap them bit yet and still they're fresh

In boxes in the closet for newer stuff. My older stuff is stored in large plastic storage containers from Wal-Mart. When I was in high school I bought a LOT of OG stuff but storage was an issue with all those boxes so I tossed a lot of them.

The silica gel packs absorb moisture from the air, which is why loads of shoes (and other boxed clothing) often come with a packet or two per box.

You don't want to use more than a couple of packets because too much of the moisture in the air would be absorbed, causing leather and paint to dry and crack.
