Well, the SNL performance was painful, but lets not forget a good live performance:

Hope she gets over the nerves or whatever caused her poor showing on SNL, I'd hate to pay for a concert and get some terrible performance.

Uh try mediocre, she can't actually sing, this is a problem.

This may sound horrible - but I'm fairly enjoying her downward spiral into mediocrity - I wish this would happen a lot more often as a means to deter these 'manufactured artists.'

Oh, and props to Brian Williams for calling her out in that email.

I hope you're well. Happy New Year. A big congratulations to the new freelance weekend guy, Taylor Bernam. He's done some good posts right out of the box. I do wish the main page featured more TV coverage (Brooklyn hippster [sic] Lana Del Rey had one of the worst outings in SNL history last night — booked on the strength of her TWO SONG web EP, the least-experienced musical guest in the show's history, for starters). In my humble opinion as a loyal customer (you know I love you but the Blog View button will be the eventual cause of my death) and while I know you're in the midst of an editor change, weekends have been allowed to go awfully fallow — and it was a fallow holiday period for those of us who check your *+$% 10 times a day by iphone. I know you've been watching NBC Nightly News religiously each evening and I'll no doubt be getting a withering, detailed critique from you straight away.

I'm not even sure why her agent would let her perform live on national t.v. so soon....reviews for her live shows have always been on the negative side. Why throw her straight in the fire like that so soon?

Tryna push the album out as fast as possible before the ship sinks.

but why though?  What about her specifically has spawned this backlash?  It's not like she's the first "manufactured" artists out there
or the first to reinvent their look and style.  Let's forget the SNL bungle, because again she's not the first and won't be the last

last to do that.  What about her has folks rooting for her to fail?

She is not as talentless as a lot of you guys seem to want to make her out to be. Chalk it up to nerves, chalk it up to SNL's strange sound, but she's not a total fraud like you guys are saying.

Can't wait to hear the LP in full.

I'm guessing it has to do with her meteoric rise. People are confused/jealous that she got popular almost overnight. Two singles and already this much exposure? It's easier for people to dismiss someone and pick out their faults than to appreciate the positives. It's understandable.
There was similar backlash when Gaga first appeared.

The whole SNL/Brian Williams fiasco turned out to be a great career move for her. Lots of exposure on websites she would have never gotten otherwise.

Yea but how does a bad performance = people willing to buy your music?

Because it's not that direct.

You can't possibly be that short sighted?

What the HELL happened to Diet Mtn Dew? This #+$% here... I mean I like it, but the original version >>> this.

I'm not even saying that she is a fraud, once I heard born to die it clear she was a straight up mediocre to bad vocalist, she is not completely talentless, singing is just not one of her talents...like I said great great style, great choice in producers, good lyrics means she can make good music.
