Looking to move somewhere new and start over. Folks live in San Diego and LA and I am still living at my moms old house in Little Rock, AR with a couple of roomates. Situation is getting stale and im just looking for a fresh start. Money situation is ok and I would have to find a new job of course. Any suggestions or advice on this?? I've always wanted to move to a city like Chicago, New York or Philly. Thanks NT fam!!

Well you said your money situation is ok and you would have to find a new job

i'd say wait until your money is better than just OK.

and definitely have a job lined up

Austin TX.

If you move to NYC, Chicago, SF, etc with "ok" money, chances are you're probably not gonna be living in a nice neighborhood. I'm out visiting some friends in NYC right now and almost every
neighborhood outside of certain parts of Manhattan has project buildings and hood dudes up to no good. Not that major cities like CHI and SF don't have projects and slums, but at least they're kept separate from civilization. In NYC they're mixed together with luxury apartments

Anyways  I'd say to save up ALOT of money before you move out to any of those places, because the competition for good jobs is alot higher as well; it might take you time to find a good gig.

Been to Chicago when I was little but that was it. Never been to Philly or NYC but I've always heard pretty good things from people who have been there. Im sure it is a lot different though living there than just visiting

He could still move to a city outside of NYC so that he wouldn't have to pay overly expensive rent yet he would still benefit from living extremely close to NYC.
Most people that move to NY make the mistake of living in the city itself when they could just move to one of the surrounding cities and get a great home with access to transportation to the city as compared to a small apartment.

I live in a great neighborhood in Yonkers, NY and it literally just takes me 10 minutes to get access to a subway station to Manhattan.

How much do you pay a month for rent?

one could live relatively decently on about 40K salary in Chicago, depending on other factors. i repeat, certain factors.

Well I live in a house with 3 other people so with bills and all that its about 500 for each person. I can afford up to 1200 and I know in a bigger city that isn't much.

It's doable in the outer boroughs by yourself, obviously less with roommates.  I recently got a 1bed in Brooklyn, and I'm paying $1050 a month + elec & internet - I'll eventually call direct TV to get it setup.

Been really considering moving man.

The Pacific Northwest has a cool/chill/outdoors vibe that I really enjoy

Phoenix is a city that has always interested me as well.

I don't think I would want to move to FLA. Something about FLA doesn't make me want to LIVE there.

Or maybe Japan?

I've been discussing with my wife if we should move out of California and head to Washington. Just to get a change of scenery.

Was considering Portland, but I've read a lot of people have been relocating there in the recent years.

Born and raised in Oakland. I'm 29 now and I'm moving to Portland in July. Nicaragua in 5-6 years. Girl's fam has 30 acres and a farm out in that tropical jungle.:smokin
