Official 2012 Boxing Thread: JMM/Manny IV - FOTY.

OMG, when Broner let's his hands go those combinations are brutal. I can't believe DeMarco even lasted as long as he did but I guess that's a testament to how good his chin is...even Valero couldn't put him down.

Broner really does seem to be getting better with each fight but we'll really find out what he's about when he moves up to 140 where there are guys like Garcia, Rios, and Matthysse. Looks like Ricky Burns is probably going to be next who he'll probably destroy.

only guy i can see giving him problem is matthysse, broner wipes out 140.

the inside work was impressive.

Broner was very impressive last night. That hand speed, defense, and power was way too much for DeMarco.

Seth Mitchell though :smh: can't keep making those mistakes

He looks more confident than ever. But British fans are always delusional.

The commentators and his promoter were acting like Ward is in trouble if a rematch were to happen. Ward had interesting tweets about this.

As far as Broner being in the P4P list, now quite yet. If he makes easy work of Burns then I'll agree but even Froch is probably more deserving at this point.

Like I said, I don't mind seeing a rematch. But we all know Ward won't go across the pond.

If Froch destroys Bute again and then beats Kessler which i think are likely the next two fights for Froch, then sure, but right it's kind of pointless. By then I wouldn't be surprised if Ward has gone up to 175.

I don't know about anyone else, but Bam Bam Rios is really high up on the P4P list right now for me. I've yet to see a fight where I didn't walk away fully impressed. I know there's other Jr. Welter/Welter's that are more proven, but there isn't a guy out there right now in his weight class that I think he can't beat. I know Garcia is the sexy pick in his division, and there's always JMM/Manny/Floyd @ 147, but I love the dude.

Maybe I'm too high on the guy because I really like him, so.... .

Rafael says that he's the frontrunner to fight Manny if Manny beats JMM again?

Oh boy. :pimp:

my may be memory fails me but I think I remember bam Bam losing a fight (won via scorecards) to a spanish fighter who was left handed and did the philly shoulder roll.

There isn't really a guy in Boxing a weight class below or above Ward that I feel like would really challenge him. Middleweights have Sergio, Geale, JCC Jr, nag GGG, and with the exception of GGG, I feel like Ward walks through all those guys. @ 168, he pretty much destroyed everyone in that tournament, and haven't really seen anyone that I think would touch him. If he goes up to light heavyweight, who is there for him to fight? Campillo? Hopkins? ESPN suggests Pavlik next, but after the beatdown he got from Sergio, I don't really see how the result would be any different. Andre is stronger, tougher, and younger.

I AM excited to see who Golovkin steps up to fight next.

Not sure who you were talking about. Not the SD win over Abril right? He's Cuban, and isn't a southpaw. :nerd:

I personally can't remember either, but I checked all the fights that went to decision. All were right-handed, and none from Spain.

I don't doubt you, just can't recall either. I do remember a fight of his recently being relatively close, but I can't remember seeing him definitely lose a fight.

I was mistaking Abril for another guy.

That Abril fight was ugly. Both guys held far too much. Brandon smothered him and Abril clinched Rios' left glove all night. You're right though, that was a low for Rios.

Broner looked really good. The biggest surprise to me other then the inside fighting, his lightning quick right hand that was landing at will, his insanely high connect % on power shots...was he actually got hit. I thought demarco actually got a few decent shots in but Broner took it and kept dominating. His body work all fight was impressive too. Hurt Demarco with some body punches.

Seth.........I was rooting for you too man.....they were really trying to build him as a legitimate heavy weight too....so much for that
