Ask the Barber

is it impossible to get a slightly more tapered version of this at a barbershop

i ask if its impossible, because i've never seen scissors at the barbershop i go to, as everyone requests "fades" or "tapers" or some punk kid always goes in and asks "i want my scalp to look like drakes"

i think i will more than likely end up at a salon soon

Ok I know I'm not gonna get an answer but what are you guys using to take down your facial hair? I usually just let my barber take it down but my facial hair grows too fast for it to be trimmed biweekly. I keep a low chinstrap and I'm just looking for the best thing to trim it with.

lol after a day or two it still looks good.. so just go ahead and do the bald fade you will love that breeze on your scalp ... easy to wipe that sweat off ya head too when its in this summer heat gotta keep that rag

I said I dont want the bald sides because of the razor burn, no other reason.

What is it called if I want a bald fade, but with a one on the sides instead of it being bald?

If you are talking along the lines of this, its called a shadow fade (minus the parts of course)

I have straight fine hair (not thinning) and the way that it grows is from left to right, so when i get a 5 and  you look at my hair from the right side you can see my scalp but on the left my hair still looks thick. is there a way to fix this so my hair will look thick all the way around?

I recently bought a Phillips Norelco Pro beard and stubble trimmer. I love it. Way better than when I was using Wahl clippers. The trimmer has a vacuum too so there's no mess.

Came in to post props for Deron Williams' barber. Dude's fade and chinstrap are always super sharp and on point.

If I were white this is the style I'd go for. Looks :pimp:

This is a complete Noob question. But when I attach any plastic guide whether it be a #2, 3, or 4, do I always set the clipper blade lever all the way up to 000?

Why don't barbers use straight razors to line people up no more?

I've been to a number of different barbers in the past few years and only 1 or 2 who actually used one. The rest stay giving me these half assed shape ups with the clippers :smh:

Laziness. I need to find one that does that.

I'll pay a couple dollars more to get a line up with a straight razor. My old Haitian barber used a straight line and my lineup/ cut was always crisp.

I guess I'll ask my barber to use a straight razor next time.
