Nike's big announcement (guess this belongs here and/or S&T)...

NIKE+ FUELBAND

Thoughts?

I think it's pretty nifty and I think it'll definitely motivate a lot of people to get into shape!

innovative... registered July 2010...

Pretty dope to think of something back then and when you make it official its still technology forward..

Both Nike and Rbk made fitness type announcements this past week. Odd. Different items but still

Anyway pretty cool stuff

And the Catch 22 is that someone willing to spend $150 on a fitness product is already interested and involved with fitness. I doubt this will spawn a whole new group of people to work out. Sad but true, people that don't care will continue not to careProbably not a true Catch-22 but whatever

If you're a breakdancer, free runner, most of track&field, or a person trying to lose weight that wants to keep track of ALL YOUR ACTIVITY, I think it's awesome! For runners, the original Nike+ system (+GPS) seems better (and cheaper).

I might be reaching, but these Frees seem to be a part of a "Fuel" collection? (via The Jimmy Fallon Show) Peep the heel tab.

Takes your movement, and calculates it into steps, calories, time, etc. all adds up to Nike Fuel, whatever that is.

Those frees are hard though. Is that model on Nike ID?

Nike really needs to drop the price. The UP and FitBit do more and are only $99. Might have to wait till people stop using theirs and start reselling on CL haha.

Man just tried to get one but sold out on the Pre order? Did they actually go live or has it said sold out the entire time?

It would have to do all the above and give me a precise heartrate. I'm not sure how accurate it would be though as far as distances and pacing goes unless it has some sorry of GPS billy in like the Nike + app for the iPhone.

This is what I said earlier and early reports is no trackage of mileage or pace ran, just calories burned and "Fuel" burned calculated by Nike. Definite pass now since all that is subjective and the only thing Nike is really basing those 2 measurements on from your body is your weight/height which means most likely not that accurate.

Agreed that was the dealbreaker for me as well, hopefully its not true but everything I've searched comes up with  bad news

seems like a definite pass.  The adidas micoach looks like its more functional for less than half the price, although you have to get compatible shoes..and its adidas lol
