NIKE+ FUELBAND --- Nike's Big Announcement (1/19/12)

I was hoping they would add the heart monitor.... would of bought 1 for myself and 2 for family member.

wondering why they didnt do it.

As mentioned before, heart rate monitor requires a tight fit on the wrist to track your pulse. Nike doesn't want to do that type of fit so it was neve going to be in the second fuel band

Ive been debating for a while now on getting one but always decided not to.

Got some disposable income and saw the launch of the newer version so i said what the heck. Only sucky part for me is im gonna have use my ipod a lot more aince Nike decided not to incorporate android devices to be synced.

Pretty excited to get it though. Too bad there wasnt a blue option those other colors sucked. Went with the solid black

seeing these new colored ones just makes me mad i skipped on not buying the DB fuelband last year, its basically the same thing cosmetically. (the DB was black and blue)

i was hoping we'd get better colored bands, i would've liked an all red band, but these black ones with minor color details are not worth me spending another 150 on it

I know theirs some technical advances but they aren't that important to me if its not water proof, or a heart monitor

are they going to discontinue the old fuelband? or are they gonna just lower the old one and keep both products in the market like what apple does..

I don't think anyone knows. My guess is that they'll stop making the old ones but keep a bunch of them for replacements and whatnot.

i got an original Fuelband thats out of warranty now my only wish is that they make the coating more durable as a Chef this thing scuffs so easily.

I may consider a new once the battery finally dies on mine

I does its job and keeps me motivated to not sit around so much

Reminds me of the logic behind the iPhone 5c.

I don't really get this. The 5c is the 5 in a cheaper body, essentially. Are you all saying this just because there are different colors now? The technology is improved although not as much as we wanted it to be. It isn't like they just repackaged the original Fuel Band in a different color.

I think the argument would be better if they came out with this and made it cheaper than the original and came out with a higher end model but I can sort of see it.

Certainly not a 1:1 comparison but Nike and Apple already have a fairly close relationship and Tim Cook is on Nike's board of directors.

Getting my girl one for out anniversary, do I need to get the Nike+ Chip as well? Or is it the same thing?

you dont need the nike+ chip for your shoes, but i've read it gives more accurate data on your workouts.

I think nike will go the apple route and slowly phase the older fuel bands out of their inventory.

we will be able to buy them until the original ones are all gone, then they will only sell the newer versions but will still support the older fuelbands if we have questions/issues.

I know its brand new and all, but is it safe to say that the new fuelband still isnt ideal if you get most of your activity through, stregnth training or has there been an improvement that I was not aware of? Thats why I have yet to purchase one but this new one piqued my interest all over again.
