Finally, a new regime. Clean out some of these assistants and make the right hires to replace, and we're on our way.

Well guys, if you remember the 2010 schedule, the 2014 schedule should look similar. Well, minus the results hopefully.

While the Houston Texans' 2014 schedule won't come out for several months, home and road opponents are set for next season.

As it stands right now, this appears to be a much easier schedule than the team's 2013 slate. In 2013 the Texans played a first-place schedule and the AFC South played the daunting NFC and AFC West.

Next season, Houston will play a last place schedule, and face the less daunting NFC East and AFC North.

Of course, we can say all we want that next season's schedule looks easier -- a lot can change in the next several months and throughout the season. After all, this time last year the Kansas City Chiefs didn't seem like they'd be one of the tougher games.

The schedule will include a trip to Dallas to play the Cowboys, and a trip to Houston for an Eagles roster that's filled with former Texans.

Here it is:

Home: Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington ********

Away: Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants

Though we'll be "playing a last place schedule", still looks tough to me based on this year  even though some if those away teams stink, you're still playing them in their house

When i saw this on twitter early this morning, I thought it was some fake profile trolling, but wow, didn't know O'Brien was hitting the detonator on this coaching staff  Not even mad, you pretty much have to start from scratch

Wade
Dennison
Dorrell
Pariani
Harris
Kirksey
Vance
Herring

By GAWD, King, O'Brien just broke the Texans coaching staff in half.....:pimp:

Bill Kollar (d-line) is the only one set to be retained

This is what I wanted all along, clean house with this regime and bring in a new mentality.

And I don't care what anyone says I want Manziel as my QB. If we can trade down and take him that would be great. Although I don't know if anyone wants to draft Teddy that badly to trade up for him.

-HOUSTON RELEASES 16 ASSISTANT COACHES-

The Houston Texans have confirmed that 16 assistant coaches, including defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and offensive coordinator Rick Dennison have been fired, following the recent hiring of coach Bill O’Brien.

The firings have taken place over the last few days and Phillips acknowledged his release on Twitter on Saturday. Defensive line coach Bill Kollar was the only assistant to keep his job.

Other fired coaches include: Perry Carter (assistant defensive backs), Karl Dorrell (quarterbacks), Dan Hammerschmidt (offensive assistant), Chick Harris (running backs), Reggie Herring (linebackers), Vance Joseph (defensive backs), Bobby King (assistant linebackers), Larry Kirksey (wide receivers), Marc Lubick (assistant wide receivers), Brian Pariani (tight ends), Jim Ryan (assistant offensive line), Matt Schiotz (assistant strength and conditioning), Cedric Smith (strength and conditioning) and Jeff Zgonina (assistant defensive line).

Harris was the last remaining coach who had been with the team since its inception in 2002. (Getty Images)

-VRABEL LEAVES OHIO STATE TO BE TEXANS ASSISTANT-

Third-year Ohio State defensive line coach Mike Vrabel is jumping back to the NFL to rejoin new Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien.

Vrabel, who played at Ohio State and went on to a 14-year career in the NFL, will coach linebackers, he confirmed in a post on Twitter.

"I am thankful for everyone assoc with TOSU for 3 great years and my family and I are excited to join the Houston Texans as the LB coach," he posted early Thursday night.

O’Brien, the head coach at Penn State the past two years, had been a top assistant with the New England Patriots in 2007-08 when Vrabel was a player. Vrabel won three Super Bowls with the Patriots.

Vrabel was one of the top recruiters for coach Urban Meyer. Joey Bosa, a freshman defensive end, was recruited by Vrabel and developed into a starter this past season.

Meyer did not have an immediate comment.

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith also turned to Twitter to congratulate Vrabel and his wife.

"Thanks Mike and Jen Vrabel for all you gave the Buckeyes. Good luck in Houston. Here for you always!!! #GoBucks," Smith posted on his account.

Vrabel becomes the second defensive coach to leave the Buckeyes in recent weeks. Everett Withers, co-defensive coordinator and assistant head coach/safeties left to take the head coaching position at James Madison last month.

The Buckeyes went 12-2 this past season, running their school-record winning streak to 24 games in a row before losing their final two games, 34-24 to Michigan State in the Big Ten championship game and 40-34 to Clemson in the Orange Bowl.
