IF TEXANS S ED REED PLAYS, HE’LL START VS. RAVENS - Houston Texans safety Ed Reed went through a full practice on Friday. So if he makes his season debut Sunday during his return to Baltimore, he’ll start against the Ravens.

The Texans ini…tially planned to have Reed come off the bench and have Shiloh Keo make his third consecutive start. But if Reed’s activated, he’ll be one of the Texans’ starting defenders.

“We take a look at his body of work throughout the course of the week, watch him move, watch the movements you’ve got to make to play and then come to a conclusion if he’s ready to go,” Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Friday at Reliant Stadium.

Reed insists that it won’t be an emotional day for him. Saying his return to the place where he played for 11 seasons to face an organization that he won a Super Bowl with seven months ago is just “another away game right now.” (Photo: Pat Sullivan/Associated Press)

BALTIMORE — Texans left tackle Duane Brown (turf toe) is out for Sunday’s game against the Ravens.

Brown, who was initially expected to be a game-time decision, did not travel with the Texans and will be replaced by Ryan Harris.

“I have a lot of confidence in Ryan because he played a lot for us last year and he’s played a lot of football in this league,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Friday. “He’s got a big challenge on his hands. Regardless of who plays for us this week, we’ve got a challenge. They’re a very good defensive football team. I’m comfortable with Ryan. That’s why he’s here. It’s great that he came back to us because these are situations that kind of define you as a team.

“If you have problems, guys have to step in. How do you handle them? Can you still find ways to win? Can you still find ways to be successful in what you’re doing? If we’ve got that challenge come Sunday morning, then I’m counting on Ryan to rise to the occasion and for his teammates to help him.”

Brown was held out of practice this week after injuring his toe during Week 2 in a home win against Tennessee. He returned to face the Titans, but said Monday he was dealing with pain and was placed in a protective walking boot.

Brown has played in 78 games (all starts) since 2008. The 2012 All Pro keys the left side of the Texans’ line.

I love the Texans, but realistically have no faith in this team. I would not be surprised if we drop the next 3 games, but then again wouldn't be surprised if we won lol Jekyll and Hyde

Texans are 2 point favorites btw. But being on the road and never have won in BMore, I can see the game being iffy.

i think houston as a whole is vastly underrating how poor the offensive line is. derek newton is a terrible right tackle in both pass and run blocking. ben jones and brandon brooks are supposed to be good run blockers, but both not very good pass blockers. we go as the offensive line goes

2-1 is not the time to panic, even with the upcoming schedule, but with the rise of young successful QBs right now, I think I would be on board with joining the Case Keenum Club. I support Schaub, and I know our O-line is weak right now, but Luck, Tanny, RG3, Kaep, Wilson, and surprisingly Geno, Pryor, and EJ Manuel have me thinking we be looking for a QB upgrade sooner than later.

Texans could easily be 0 - 3...and with NE and B more down this year, if the Texans don't get to the SB or AFC title game I see big changes coming. Too much talent on this team to be playing like they are.

I'm not one to freak out over ONE game, but we've been playing like garbage the whole season, all 3 games.

These next 2 games will show us what we're made of, and especially what Matt Schaub is made of.

I've always been a supporter of his, just due to he was my QB and honestly, he wasn't that bad IMO, but it wouldn't kill him to actually over throw someone vs. under throwing everyone. Can't wait for next Sunday.

Bounce back against the best team in the NFL (IMO) then Breaking Bad.

The only pics I'm posting from this disaster of a game to serve as a remember til next Sunday

the offensive line didn't do us any favors, and the playcalling didn't help, but schaub has his limitations. watching other teams around the league, it's apparent that we're at a competitive disadvantage with him as our QB. his lack of arm strength allows DBs to sit on routes, and his lack of mobility just buries us.

maybe i'm just spoiled having johnny manziel as my college QB

It really seems like every QB has SOME mobility but ours. It's very frustrating based on the talent this team has. And the non-athletic ones are able to call audibles and just flat out make better decisions. Last week I noticed the Texans did a total of 3 bootlegs. This week was 0. Is that because of the defense the Ravens were playing, or did KonservaKub just assume the Ravens would stop it? It's just mind boggling that they didn't run those plays at all.

No to Ben, no to Rex.

If the team is gonna start fresh then no need to go after recycled parts.

This team has too much young talent to wait 2-3 for a rookie QB who might not pan out.

Not to mention most of the AFC is in shambles / rebuilding.

We got Cush / Watt / Mercy / Reed / JJoe / Reem / Brown / Foster / Daniels / Tate / Dre |I / now Nuk.

We need to sure up the right side of that line and find a competent QB and that's enough to get to at least a AFC champ game.

i think that's overestimating our talent a little.

merciless and reed haven't shown me much, although it's still early for both.

i like kareem, but joseph's best is behind him.

brown cush and watt are studs.

foster is heading on a sharp decline, but because we have him locked up we can't keep tate.

it sucks to see the colts have the wealth of talent they do, barely making any money, and all our big money guys are on the wrong side of their careers :smh:

What we NEED is coaches who aren't afraid to adapt to their personnel instead if running outdated 1996 type offenses/defenses.

Until that changes idc who's our QB we will always get the same results.

I don't listen to 610 much anymore cause there's conveniently too many anti-Texans guys who work that station, but i agree with a lot of the things that came up earlier. That conservative play calling from Kubiak is crippling based on the talent at their disposal. One thing they brought up was an identical play from the Texans and Ravens. We're at 3rd and long, and we duck for cover and run a draw. Ravens were at third and long, and convert a 40+ yard pass. Schaub's arm isn't Flacco's of course, but you have to take SOME kind of risks and give your players a chance. That "take what the defense gives us" mentality sucks. It's basically conceding before results even happen. You're not supposed to let other teams dictate what you do. Where we're the play-action/bootlegs?? There's no excuse to not attempt a single one when that brings you a lot of success. Basically let the Ravens put them in a box before anyone got on the field.

on our first 2 possessions where we drove down field to settle for field goals, we had goal to go situations where we didn't throw the ball into the endzone. instead, we ran a crossing route to OD at the 4 yard line. :smh:
