WELL worth the watch.
You'll be entertained, educated and perhaps motivated.

Probably the best documentary I have seen about that pivotal moment in history.

As an Irish-American, I always thought the struggle for civil rights for Catholics in Ireland was startlingly similar to the struggles of the Black Panthers.

I'll watch..but not right now..first two mins are interestin..but I know a lot about the Civil Rights Movement in general..because I studied it and that is one of my favorite eras in history..

I found the rap instrumentals distracting, but it was a pretty good, albeit somewhat sloppily produced, introduction to the movement. Any word on when part 2 is expected?

very very interesting documentary. I gotta watch part 2. I know alot about the movementoverall but it was good to learn about the LA chapter. Alot of great interviews.

Should be out shortly. I will update this thread when it does.
its ok. so far it barely scratches the tip of the iceberg.

What do you feel was missing?

Same sentiment here.

Couple things stuck out to me:

The fact that many of the OGs are still alive and well.....Many of the agent provocateurs and perpetrators of CoIntelpro and lynchings as well. Kinda give a clear time reference and reminds us that we are only a generation removed from this type of action.

It was great to hear about the Brown and Black coalition of that era...crazy how that bond has been torn apart and Blacks and Mexicans are now at war in some parts of LA.

Most importantly...these cats were 17 - 22 shaking up the world! The type of intelligence, bravery, skill and dedication that they had at that age, in the face of those odds, is really amazing....Look at the state of mind and the activities of choice of today's young people. These warriors gave SO MUCH, so that we can have it a little easier.

Had to take a good look in the mirror at the end of this documentary

I just watched the whole thing and I thought it was really good.

Tons of names and events I've never heard/read about.

I will definitely be looking out for. Pt. 2.

So much happened in their lives before they were even 25. So much passion for what they believed in. Nice to still be able to get first hand accounts from people that actually lived it.

Anyone remember in some thread a pic of the BPP was posted and one kid on here said his dad was in the pic?

I could see Sheena as a Panther...

Beret on top of the fro, shotgun as big as her, bubble poking out of the leather jacket.

That documentary took a lot of scenes and interviews from the first half of the following documentary.  This one did a good job of
showing what happened after 41st and Central going into the 70's and how the bloods and crips eventually
formed out of the remnants. It picks up where OPs video left off after about 20-30 mins. For those waiting
for part 2, check it out.
