Late pass. Friday Night Lights is one of the best shows

Late is generous...but I agree.
Riggins and Coach Taylor are guys I'd love to go on some whiskey benders with, and Lyla Garrity and Tami Taylor keep me awake at night.

Buddy Garrity > ______

"Natures meat??? Nature already has its own meat. It's called a cow."

I hate how the last season went tho. It seems as if they tried to fit 18 episodes into 13 slots.

They basically did...
Also blows that season 2 doesn't have an ending due the writer's strike.

My favorite show I've watched other than Friends. I watched every episode every Saturday until the end. Needless to say, watch all of the seasons. IMO, the 2nd season>all

They had to shorten the seasons because of the financial agreements they had with DirectV just to keep the show alive. If it was up to them they would of kept giving us 22 episode seasons like the 1st. It didn't catch on mainstream unfortunately so they had to do what they had to do just to keep giving us more FNL. Under those circumstances you couldn't of asked for any better of a job from the writers. They did a damn good job of fitting 18 episodes into 13 to end it for us, it wasnt ideal but they did better than you could of Asked from any writer in America. Very well written and acted show from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorites, and even though it wasn't noticed as well as it was reviewed it went out on top with those great Emmys last year.

Show is appreciated. I recommended it in the Netflix thread. I'll post an article from AoM when i'm on my comp.
I didn't know the writers strike chopped season 2 in half. Explains why it didn't feel like it had an ending and all the other seasons felt a little rushed at times (but that doesn't take away from the shows greatness).

Do you guys think they basically relisted Riggins as a Junior in season 2 to allow for him to stay on the show longer (as a player)?  The best friends with Street thing in the first season seems odd considering Street was a senior and Riggins (apparently) a sophomore...

As a former high school football player from alabama in the most competitive district in the state

I can say this show is the most spot on to any show/movie about sports I've seen. A lot of the stuff hits me hard

Some of my friends dont even want to watch the rest of the seasons because it hits so close to home

Series Finale Yea I teared up...so what...you cant beat me up tho

maybe they are using the "alcoholic student = terrible student = held back a few grades" explanation?

man.. i didn't get on this show til late..

thoroughly enjoyed the show.. especially the women

I never thought the show would bounce back after that 2nd season.

NBC @!$@%* up cancelling it.

one of my favorite shows of all time. on another note is Landry a 16 year old freshman lol? he drives matt around all the time in the first season.

but I think they saw how popular some of the characters were and changed the ages later on. When I watched the first few episodes I thought Street, Riggins, Tyra and Lyla were all Seniors but apparently only Street was a Senior while the other three were Sophomores. --------SPOILER ----------Which makes Tyra's tryst with the businessman from LA a little weird.

Julie Taylor has some nice chest. And can't forget the resident bad girl Tyra Collette.
I played football (honestly sat the bench) at a high school that was always in contention for playoffs way past our own league. And the show is pretty accurate down to the small details. Maybe that's why I liked it so much.

I kinda wish I had caught on to this show while it was being aired, but I like the fact that I caught the wave just as it hit netflix because I didn't have to wait between episodes, seasons, and that awful writers strike.

Show is definitely under rated. I'll always be puzzled at the fact this never caught on.

What?! That season is universally recognized as contrived and the weakest of the 5. Are you serious?

haha good call...

I think it was due to bad time slot (at least inconsistent, I remember it on like 3 different nights of the week over the life of the series) and it was hard to market a show based on high school.  I had to buy my parents the DVDs for them to even give it a chance and they loved it.

I give them credit at least for partnering with DirecTV.

Yeah that statement is pretty shocking

Even the creator/writers have said they regret the direction they went with Landry and Tyra in season 2. The writer's strike played a big factor, but still.

The show did a fantastic job of transitioning from the old cast/players to a new one. I was very cautious but they pulled it off wonderfully. Coach Taylor is one of the best characters in TV history. It's unfortunate the show was hard to market, because it was really one of the best of the last decade. I can't say enough great things about it, I feel like re-watching the series right now.

Great show .. season 2 of course deserved all 22 episodes. no fall off from NBC to directTV.
really liked the coach.stuck his neck out for his guys and even saved the college kid.

smash made it to big 12

Same thing that amazes me about Arrested Development. I didn't watch it until this past winter break (Netflix FTW), but I didn't understand how a show so good (one of the funniest comedies ever) could fly under the radar for so long.

Some scenes from this series that I'll never forget...

Coach Taylor's first locker room speech "Clear eyes full hearts..."
Saracen finding out about the death of his father.
frown.gif

Riggins leaving his shoes in the endzone after his final game.
frown.gif

The child abuse story line with the transfer QB and his **** father.
The season 1 finale when they won the state title.
And of course the series finale....what an incredible ending.
