How good would Larry Bird be in today's game?

Players from the 80s have very poor footwork.
WOW.

Most players in today's game don't even have footwork/fundamentals compared to the guys in the 80's...

I blame AAU.

And good as KD is he shouldn't be above Bird. You could even argue he should be number 1. 3>2 and he didn't have to make a pact to win them.
Acting like Bird wasn't surrounded by 3-4 Hall of Famers...

If prime Bird is jumping into today's game, he doesn't get to bring any team trophies with him.

larry played during the jordan era , magic johnson's primetime lakers and the bad boy poston's era

you questuon him you have to question jordan , magic etc

and to answer the question , he'd wreck the league and be a 29,7 and 7 guy

bird would be considered the best player in the league (1a 1b with lebron kind of thing)

with the way basketball is being played these days he would be the greatest stretch 4 ever

larry bird is dumpster juice. Mchale. Parish. Worthy.

All those sub 7 footers with jumpshots where they dont leave the ground are cool and all but more physicalbdoesnt mean better. Defenders today are longer and quicker. kawai leonard would shut larry bird down

Larry Bird putting up 49 on one of the most athletic players in NBA history.

Did I mention he was 35 years old and did this while wearing a 50 pound back brace?

Larry Bird would have been BETTER, he would have shot way more 3's in todays NBA.

Dirk is maybe my favorite player ever.

Outside of being 3 inches taller I don't know of anything that Dirk did better than Bird.

He literally was better in every way

Dirk and Nash dominated recently dominated the NBA without being hyper athletic

Bird would be even better due to his shooting, playmaking ability, IQ, defense and a will that is probably only 2nd to Jordan

Hard fouls and hand checking = better defense?

Combine the physical play of back then and the schemes of now and you get 70 ppg like the early 2000s. Not the high scores of the 80s bro.

its funny so many ppl say the opposite... but I gotta say in most parts this is true.... I mean dudes got around shifting and moving around screens and recovering from getting beat off the dribble by using physical force to stop guys... I have to say that it does seem to be easier to knock a guy down trying to screen a player as oppose to using footwork and skillset and getting around the screen.

Even when you look at his 37% 3 point shooting which he was deamed the best shooter in the l...that wouldn't I don't think even crack top 20 in todays nba...let alone be head and shoulders above the rest. But I do think with the lack of physical contact and the space allotted due to no physical handchecks etc.. his shooting would be much better... I would see him as a much more polished skilled and saavy set shooter ala like a ray allen but less athletic...
