Eli Manning owns Tom Brady's soul, and that's all I need to say.

and honestly your the first person I've ever heard make that argument "if this was the ncaa" if this was the ncaa the pats and packers would've played without a playoff but it aint

I think the point he's trying to make is that usually when a team or player gets caught cheating, especially on the level that they were, they're usually stripped of their achievements.

nah I think his point was he doesnt know what the @@#% he's talking about and is sodium level jumps through the roof when Tom Brady's name comes up

but he's right because he says he's right I dig it super bowl was yesterday Giants won therefore Eli HAS to be the best ever

I could be wrong but when's the last time the nfl stripped someone of anything? Pete rose was banned from baseball but still wasn't stripped of his records. College sports strips things and olympics because it's considered amatuer not professional. The nfl with its love affair is true though.

HOWEVER, for all you guys saying "Eli > Peyton" - other than postseason resume, why? Why does Eli > Peyton?

You want to know why Eli's postseason stats look so good?
2004 season - missed playoffs.
2005 season - One and done. Got shut out against Carolina.
2006 season - One and done. Beat by the Eagles.
2007 season - Super Bowl. AMAZING postseason - one of the best I've seen.
2008 season - One and done. Beat by the Eagles.
2009 season - missed playoffs.
2010 season - missed playoffs.
2011 season - Super Bowl. Another amazing postseason.

I love the guy, but he's only made it to the playoffs five times. Three of those were one and out. The other two were Super Bowls.

See how ridiculous that sounds when we nominate a QB with a single championship as having "the potential" to be the best ever.

Eli has two now and he's only 31. But ya'll laugh.

I don't know what I'm talking about? I'm salty? Tom Brady hasn't won a Super Bowl since Spygate. I'm stating FACTS. BigBrandon summed it up nicely...

The NFL let a team that knowingly cheated keep its Super Bowl trophies. I don't count them in my arguments, and I wish others would follow suit.

If Rivers starts getting some deep post season runs going that 04 QB class will start to have that historically great look (not quite 83 but still great) for QBs

These guys were spying on the opposing team's practices and getting information about their offensive plays and defensive strategies, if that doesn't deserve getting your title stripped, I don't know what does.... that's the ultimate form of cheating.

Still taking time off from work Big Brandon? I know it's only been 3 weeks since the Steeler's loss.

Well put. He had 2 great runs and he deserves south credit for both his title wins. People get caught up when their team does something and are quick to say greatest ever. We're all guilty we want our guys to be the best ever. By next season it'll be more realistic.

Yeah I know why he was banned. You said the get stripped of there achievemts did you not? Name me one team in the nfl that has ever been stripped of a title. Name one in the nba. Ryan Braun just got caught dirty and still has his MVP. That's what I said.

He still has time, and Peyton is close to done, if Eli gives another 5-6 years, throws some more numbers up at his current pace, wins a few more playoff games, even if he doesn't get another ring, his resume will be right there next too Peyton.  May not top any of Peyton's raw numbers, but in the ballpark.

Provided, of course, Eli stays healthy and plays out his career for a few more years.

You guys truly need to get off that damn spygate nonsense.

Video tape of walk thrus don't alter field goals, or helmet catches, or tippy toe sideline grabs late in games.  @#$% happens.  None of it has to do with watching a team job thru practice in shorts and helmets.

There's a difference between taking HGH and spying on a team... There's a difference between betting on your OWN team, and recording the practices of every opposing team you play.

Of course you win the championship three times if you know what the opposite team is doing at all times.

C'mon brah... You can't be that much of a simpleton.

Again you said teams are usually stripped. Name one team in the nfl stripped of anything or vacated wins. Please. Your sports knowledge is that of a 5 years old just keep it moving.

In order to catch Peyton, he'll have to average 4541 yards and 36 touchdowns, every year, for the next six years. That doesn't count every other category that Peyton is better than Eli in, but you get the point. Eli is a model of inconsistency, but when he's on, HE'S ON.

That doesn't include if Peyton comes back next year.

You have no idea what kinds of advantages you can get if you know what plays your opponent is running. It wouldn't have come down to those helmet catches and field goals if the defense didn't know what was coming.

   There it is.

Honestly I agree, the spygate thing should be a bigger black eye on Bellicheat, Brady, and the Patriots then it has been treated.

Man, it's the same damn thing as watching 5 years worth of tape.

There's tape for all teams, that we don't ever see.  All spliced together for anyone to watch.

Them seeing how a team lines up is nothing more than a mental "edge" in their own minds.

The Bucs were SCREAMING out the Raiders calls before plays, and it had nothing to do with watching practice, they knew the formations, the calls, all of it.

Few years ago we beat NE 21-0, and Zach Thomas was sayin after the game that they knew every play the Pats were runnin, same ones year after year.

there is a 40 second clock, team huddles, lines up, and you're down to 15 seconds right there, the defense don't have time to look at everyone, FROM A PRACTICE TAPE and start changing their defensive signals in the final 10-15 seconds while the QB calls out the cadence.  Come the hell on.
laugh.gif

Mental edge, nothing more.  Makes them FEEL like they have prepared more than they really have.

No %%!! - their head coach was with the Raiders the year before. Hiring an assistant or coach is normal and within the rules. Videotaping walkthroughs before Super Bowls is not.

Uhh... you're joking, right? If you see a certain package get thrown out on the field, that you KNEW the team was going to use, couldn't you dial up a defense to stop it?

Stop being blind to this. If you think that viewing tapes of walkthroughs doesn't give you an advantage, then I don't know what to tell you.

Since its a lot of debate in here regarding Eli's greatness and when speaking of a player you can't help but make comparisons so Giants fans of all teams.

Include Brady, rivers, Ben, Eli, Peyton, Alex and whatever qb you think deserving. Whose top 5 or top 10 in order of how good they are so far for there entire career not just this season

Jesus @#$%^&* Christ Chester, if Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii see a certain group of players jog on to the field, I know what the package is, it's on tv EVERY GOD DAMN SUNDAY MAN.  Seriously, what the hell are you smoking?

Oh %+$*, here comes Aaron Hernandez and Gronk, with Welker right behind them, gee, maybe they throw the ball here, I wish I would have taped their practice to +%!%*#% figure that %+$* out.  Good God.

@#$% man, the Oregon Ducks hold up God damn signs for everyone to read, but nobody knows how to decipher them, it's not freaking espionage it's playcalling/execution.

Hey, here comes Marshall Faulk, Torry Holt, Issac Bruce and Kurt Warner, now lets see....when they were in T shirts, they were gonna run the ball over here, ya know, like they did in the previous 18 games they played, that we watched on tape, like the rest of the country did, and ESPN did, and the shows showed all their highlights, in slow motion, and rewind, etc etc etc etc etc and on and on and on.

Without a doubt I think Eli will develop a Hall of Fame-worthy career.

He still comes off as such a doofus to me

No team ever changes up it's game plan for the Super Bowl, or breaks things out that haven't been seen before.

Except during walkthroughs. You know, it's not like they might script the first couple drives, different looks, etc.

Nope, never.

Listen, Bill, I know you're trying to defend your actions, but you blatantly cheated. It's OK - I understand you want to justify yourself by saying "18 weeks worth of tape" - but they actually had *19* weeks worth of tape. Including a week that, you know, is AGAINST LEAGUE POLICY to tape in. And gives an advantage.

But hey, they have footage from week 3, so taping walkthroughs is OK! Sportcenter highlights + the leagues 24th ranked defense should be enough to slow 'em town!
