Seattle SuperSonics Thread

He came off as a whiny little kid who didn't get his way. He can say whatever he wants about how much he's willing to pay, at the end of the day it wasn't about money. It was about whether or not the Kings needed to be moved from Sacramento, and the answer was no.

He's going to burn bridges if he tries to drag this process out, and Seattle will be left with nothing, not even an expansion team.

Hansen doesn't sound whiny at all. He's not going to drag this out because he's smarter than that.

Beware of being too cocky Sacramento fans. While it's highly likely the BOG will formalize the relocation committee's recommendation, the final vote isn't over yet and it's still possible for Hansen to own the Kings in Sacramento (although highly unlikely).

Not cocky here. Although the committee recommendation is likely what the owners will follow they always have the option of voting the other way. If the owners do vote for the Kings to stay in Sacramento then Hansen will definitely not be the owner. If he is he will have eliminated himself from owning any team in Seattle when the time comes for the NBA to return. Even worse, I pray to the basketball gods that the Maloofs don't bungle this for Sacramento....again.

Seriously, **** them.

Didnt know Clay was the head of the relocation committee.

You can't make that **** up.

So, what is the next move for the Seattle/Hansen Group?

Thought it was common knowledge that Bennett is head of the relocation committee. I think it's a non-issue, ultimately. He got his team. He's doing fine (for now).

Although I do find it funny that the NBA is so concerned about relocation (and the fact it pops up every couple years) that they have to maintain an active committee for it.

Ultimately, it's Stern sticking it to Seattle again. He didn't care about relocation until the end of his career, and now he's done a 180-degree turn and made it a priority to help teams stay. Seattle, a victim of circumstance again.

Right now it's make a final push for the kings and hope for the best. The committee is 7 owners and they need 8 more votes so you never know. I'm sure he has atleast one more trick up his sleeve so we will see

And one of Hansen's good friends was the Boston owner on the relocation committee & Balmer's former co-founder at Microsoft, Paul Allen is the Blazers owner implied that the Kings should stay too.

Paul Allen backtracked on those words.

It's not Stern sticking it to Seattle again because at the end of the day, you guys are where you were for the last five years. Nothing has changed for you. This was about not replicating what happened to you guys 5 years ago for Sacramento and out of all the fan bases, I think you guys would understand. If you're ok with Seattle taking the Kings, then be OK with the Sonics leaving to OKC.

Why are you here? You should be in the Sac town thread hoping All Stars want to come play in your city....

Yes, the joys of having an NBA franchise.

I wasn't taking a shot at Seattle or saying anything negative. I responded to a quote with a relevant response. Don't get upset because I said something you don't like.

well its not close to the same though. you guys were looking like a guarantee to relocate and chris Hansen stepped in, and by the time Sacramento stepped in and did their miracles we were already emotionally invested in this.
our team was ripped away from us basically out of nowhere

The Kings were never a guarantee to relocate. And Hansen only stepped in because the Maloofs lied to Sacramento and the NBA about the team being for sale. They made the deal in the dark, knowing Kevin Johnson had expressed his interest finding buyers for them as far back as three years ago when Burkle's name came up. They never gave Sacramento a shot, and what we've done has been despite the Maloofs spiteful attitude towards Sacramento.

you had me until that last part. Show me one article or even tweet that confirms that the Maloofs had been negotiating with Hansen for a long time.

There was that rumor of Hansen offering $450 awhile ago, but that was never confirmed.

Actually nevermind me, if thinking that the Kings had been for sale for sometime and everyone knew about it, and that makes you feel better about a failed attempt at OKC'ing the Kings, then so be it.

there needed to be a confirmation? you think it was a coincidence that Hansen gets this arena deal in place at just the time the relocation talk was getting really hot in Sacramento. maybe you guys were in the dark but we all knew this was happening in seattle.

We weren't in the dark about the relocation threat or that Seattle was always lurking in the background (that was implied when Hansen came out last Feb).

What we were in the dark about, was the Maloofs seeking a buyer or the fact they were even REMOTELY interested in selling.
