OFFICIAL COMIC BOOK THREAD

Just realized the latest trade for Saga is already out.

Need to pick that up soon.

I just found out about this crossover. It sounds DOPE. :wow:

Only downside is it's an Infinite comic. I hope they decide to print it like Daredevil/Punisher.

Today, at the “Marvel: House of Ideas” panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016, Marvel Comics announced Doctor Strange/The Punisher: Magic Bullets, a Marvel Infinite Comics crossover written by John Barber.

The new series, set to begin release this fall, sees Frank Castle going up against a new mafia threat so powerful that he needs the help of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen Strange. But, considered how good the Punisher is at dealing with the criminal element, would have him so spooked he’d go running to a master of the arcane arts?

If you read Original Sin you know you in store for dopeness.

As for infinite comics, as far as I can tell they all get posted in print after the IC is done a month or 2 later. The Spidey and Silk time travel one, the DD and Punisher one and so on.

This can end well for the X-Men? Right? ...Right? |I

Inhumans vs. X-Men #0 Will Set Up Marvel's Next Superhero Conflict

We have your first details on Inhumans vs. X-Men #0 by writer Charles Soule and artist Kenneth Rocafort, which will recap and set up the conflict between the two superhero factions before it escalates to full war in the six-issue Inhumans vs. X-Men limited series hitting this winter.

That strange/punisher will be faayyyaaahhh. The latest strange series was good IMO. Aaron is da man!!! Still waiting on the new southern bastards it seems like it's been forever.

This event gonna just launch the next stage of X-Men comics. Maybe they all live in Mars or some inhabitable planet this time.

If you think the books are gonna be cancelled and the mutants will all be killed off you fell for the sensationalism.

I am surprised ever time I see a SB book in my folder. Wish it were more timely.

Are people even still reading X-books? I tried that nonsense where they brought the original 5 back from the past and haven't picked up an X-Men story since

Add that to Fox steadfastly holding on to the movie rights, giving Marvel the obvious incentive to prioritize marketing the Inhumans, and I just see the entire franchise as washed

Nah. It's pretty unrecognizable at this point. Magneto is leading an on-field X-Men team in a weak Uncanny series. I guess they didn't need two Magneto's after Cyclops' heel turn before his demise/disappearance. I didn't like the time displaced X-Men series either. I think it's still going with a new team, but I'm not sure. Pretty sure Beast is still fraternizing with the enemy.

I don't think Marvel cares about the X-Men anymore. |I

Eh, unrecognizable compared to what? Instory wise, the X-Men comics been ****** since Morrison came through mangled so much.

Its been a freeforall ever since as far as the status quo goes with some great, middling, and bad stories for like 16 years.

The way I see it the X-Men's reign of greatness died in the 90s.

FOX's ****ups and w/e conflict with apparently both heads of Marvel (Feige and Ike) is only pouring cement on the coffin. Even if somehow the Inhumans push failed, there's still Eternals and Deviants, New Universe characters, Squadron Supreme/Supreme Power, etc. to push as the franchise that will stand next to or right behind Avengers and Spider-Man.

The saving grace for X-Men is Marvel editors experimenting with the titles with what creators get put on the team and possibly refreshing the franchise.

Whedon was the last solid run. Then it was X-Force and Wolverine runs for a minute. I liked some of Bendis' Uncanny run, but obviously that's smack dab in the middle of the X-Men's current misfortune.

Apparently the Inhumans aren't really catching on like Marvel would like. At SDCC during the Death of X panel, some retailers were voicing their complaints with the absence of X-Men titles in the Marvel Now preview, because the Inhumans don't sell as much and for these guys to stay in business, they need sellers. If Marvel didn't make the Inhumans responsible for the genocide or act as villains to one of their most beloved franchises, maybe they would sell better.

Nah I doubt it. Nothing becomes an instant best seller over night. X-Men is evidence of that. Cancelled and shelved for a few years before coming back. You don't just reach a dedicated audience with a snap of a finger.

Has nothing to do with them being in conflict with mutants. Especially given when they first started out the first 2 years not involving mutants at all. They're just using the same strategy they use for events to get more eyes on Inhuman books.

Marvel is gonna hold on to Inhumans until the movie. The movie's success or failure will be the deciding factor on if Inhuman books flourish or not.

The X-Men aren't really a priority.

The movie will be a success for sure. I honestly don't see any scenario where it isn't. It might not do Iron Man or Avengers numbers (still could, you never know), but it will do very well off the strength of Marvel Studios. That'll probably help the comics take off.

I can't speak for anyone, but I can't even front that the way they've handled the X-Men/Inhuman situation has made me weary of buying Inhumans books. I feel like it would be the final nail in the coffin.

I saw the article elsewhere. Dude has selective memory on what constitutes good x-books.

Its highly opinionated if you want to say specifically the current x-books are bad.

There is an overall dissatisfaction with certain readers about Marvel comics since the All-New All-Different era started. Publishing is dedicated in to actual ply growing their fan base regardless if some readers don't like the direction they're going all at once. Banking they'll stay as they gain more readers.

It is a young persons target audience given every year part of the generation coming up is turning 10. A whole generation that don't know the X-Men were the **** in the 90s or whoever else.

Thanks for the link, the article really is interesting. As Master Zik pointed out of course, what is or isn't a good X-Men story (Or story in general really) is always going to be an opinion. However, I think Evan Narcisse does an excellent job presenting his reasons for not considering the current era to be good. Think one of my big issues with the current era is the Terrigen Mists negatively impacting the Mutants, who were just on the brink of destruction previously, from House of M/Decimation in 05, and just started to get over it, with AvX in 2012. I don't necessarily having a problem with their population facing threat after threat and needing to fight to survive, but we were just doing this same story for 7 years. Now we're just pitting Mutants against Inhumans. :rolleyes The O5 have never been all that interesting and should have been sent home by now, but we're still running around with them instead of just giving a new group of Mutants their own series. In general there's a reason that i've mostly been picking up older X-Men comics and only drifting in and out of the newer ones.

Without much knowledge on previous X-books I enjoy the all new all different xmen. I been reading for about 4 years, 3 have been heavily. It was a good read IMO with the past and future xmen colliding. Magneto last run was dope. This current X series has been lack luster. I do enjoy the art and story of old man logan.
