Can you tell me if I’m wrong in this situation…so I’m in a vendor meeting on Tuesday with the sales manager and my director… so the vendor was saying how her company its hard to find hourly employees… then my director said the employees were happy at our company with the pay there because he was referring to our raise that we got last week… so all of a sudden he calls my name and was like your happy right with your raise and I said yes and was clearly joking just to lighten up the mood and was like ya I went to the dollar tree the other day and spent 10.00 which is more than usual and that was it…mind you I got a decent raise I was just making a joke and that’s it… my manager who is the director of the dept calls me in his office today and said not to joke around with our vendors like that cuz they might they we are cheap and are paying our employees peanuts… I said my bad didn’t mean it like that…am I wrong though for making that joke?

No because you're not supposed to be discussing people's pay anyway. I'm sure the vendor saw it for what it really was, a sidestep.

technically you shouldn't be making jokes
but ur boss shuoldn't be discussing ur private pay with vendors

^ thanks yall I thought I was tripping... When he called me in his office today I wanted to tell him to stop bringing up my personal life with vendors and people from other departments... but I was like nah not worth it so just bit my tongue...the guy is always talking about my relationship status with other people when I'm around... saying oh your single so no worries in your life... or your single why not go to the Philippines for arranged marriage...
