Man... I really want to fly fighter jets. I've had the dream of being in NASA since I was a kid, and seeing those SR-17s seriously makes me consider enlisting in officers training.

im not exactly sure what the prereqs are or how competitive the selection process is but why not look into the ANG as a pilot or navigator (if that suits your fancy) ?

National Guard doesn't get SR-17s.

The Navy would present the best opportunity for me to fly what I'd like to fly. Them or NASA, but that's an even longer shot.

ah true but still if its something you want to do, go for it...i know a few naval aviators from college (they were NROTC) and they love it

My Commander in NJROTC is a retired Naval Aviator, he told me he "just walked into the recruiters office, pointed at the poster of a fighter jet, and told the recruiter I wanna do that".
