if you already have a cpu/laptop and some kind of smart phone for internets on the go you wont ever use it. i have all 3 and use the ipad way less then the others, bout to give it to moms..

This. My mom has one, and the only time I mess with it is when I'm visiting home and chilling on the couch, otherwise I'm on my laptop.
Its more of a for-fun type gadget for rich folks. I'm home like 5 days a month and I swear I use it more than my parents do when I'm home

I have an iPad and I use it on a daily basis... It has replaced my laptop. Only time I use my laptop now is when im going to burn some kind of CD or when I mess with my phone, other than that I always use the ipad it is just to handy. It beats bringing out the laptop waiting for it to start up and all that.....

imo you would be better off saving the 300-500 if the only benefit is being "handy" and quick start up. and you still need another machine for other functions (burning cds/dvds or storage). i would rather have a unit that does it all and use my smartphone for on the go.
