Is this the "Bubble" of Nikes right now??

Here is a pic of the line too...

Yo that's crazy... is the Galaxy's the most camped for sneaker ever... does anyone know?

They camping for a whole 5 days?

I honestly would camp *puts flamesuit on* for a few hours at most just to see what the experience is like *seriously*. Anything more than a few hours, I rather try my luck online, and if I cant get them oh well. Money in my pocket.

Amazing what JB has done to keep themselves so relevant with their retro models today.

Indeed the product of smart marketing. That and a generation that seems so celebrity obsessed that if Kanye wears it, they NEED it.

When in doubt, blame the internet. HA!

Well said.

It's the late 90's babies fam....born with no originality..

They drop on the 24th.
They might be classified as hyperstrikes, Nike has been showing pro-types and building the buzz for a while now. But they didn't reveal the release date until 2 weeks ago, through their Twitter account.

They are also limited releases though.

Great way to stir up pandemonium among hypebeasts.

They are some slick shoes but people are OD'ing.

On a scale of one to ten, how much effort do you save by typing 'da' instead of 'the'?

this had me laughing. i ask my friends this too.

Ya'll clowned the hell out of that dude for doing EXACTLY what you're doing right now.

How are you going to generalize everyone in the thread like that? The things being said in here by the majority of replies have nothing to do with questioning these kids knowledge about MJ, like those dudes in the video did.
The majority of people in here are complaining about Nike's marketing, lack of supply creating an over hyped demand, resellers, kids camping for every release just because its the "cool" thing to do rather than genuinely liking the shoes and later posting them online for gratification, etc.

For someone who loves to flex his intellect a lot, you're pretty ignorant as well.

Na b, worse than anything released before 2010
i'd have to disagree, i doubt the galaxy joints will have a turnout as big as the dmp's

some malls had damn near a thousand people outside for them

the wait for the galaxy's might be longer but the turnout will be smaller especially if the production numbers are lower

Word, I think Twitter and other media attention have caused this. Plus I think Jordan has reduced the amount of shoes produced for 2012 releases.

It makes it harder to get sneakers and it takes a simple enjoyable hobby and turns it into a kids popularity contest.

It never dies out, the people just get replaced. The guys that do it for the recognition usually burn out once college hits and no cares about that. Problem is they get replaced by a new breed of High Schoolers every year.

Exactly. Sh!# aint gon change. I said it in the Galaxy foams thread the whole "sneakerhead" thing is going way to damn far. You got dudes out here camping a whole week before RD, paying 800 for 1 pair of sneakers. I never really care what the next man does but this is just disgusting my _. Then Nike is jacking the prices up, I wouldnt be surprised if foams and certain Jordans are 250 in the future dudes are already paying crazy prices gettin 'em from resellers. I've been big on sneakers since I was 9 when I got the Taxi's but at some point I tell myself "They are only shoes" . The Concord release started a whole new breed of beast.

Exactly. I expected the whole retro thing to die a couple years ago because Nike was putting out

and expecting us not to notice.
We can't blame Nike for what they're doing. They're making money because WE (yes, some of us have stopped buying their
7d51574a69d6fbf7c66591dcde7fe1322df06d2.gif
but NT still represents the main source of hype and info) keep buying. And Nike knows how to build hype.

Should we feel cheated? Should we be upset? It does feel batman, but we just gotta let it go. Every generation of kids is a little more spoiled than the last. Somewhere, though, some kid will do something new and different. Something with substance. And they will start a trend that actually means something amongst this generation of kids.

Remember. Gentry said the retros would be harder to get in the future and looking back. He was right.

This is not a mature hobby yet and it is a very fashionable and trendy hobby. It's not stamps in that it has been done for over a century and it's not trains in that it's perceived to be boring and nerdy. How old is this hobby (athletic shoe collecting)? If we take the baseline as Jordan, that's less than 30 years.

The bubble isn't even close imo. Every year more youngsters come in yet the current sneakerheads stay in the "game." Simultaneously, the culture is more permeated than ever. Ad **** Hebdige has theorized, every subculture ultimately embeds some of its parts in the mainstream. This is happening now more than ever with the sneakerhead subculture. I see even more of the same, more sneakerheads and more cultural impact, in the near future.

It's equally hard to predict critical mass and oversaturation. The latter may not happen for a long while.

Got 'em!

Hook, line and sinker.

Concord release really accelerated this or changed it for good imo

Because of the national attentention it got and the idea that people being able to click a twitter link to buy shoes and then resell at a profit was so easy and would help put food on the table during a still relatively rough economy.

all you gotta do is look at ebay day after a release, its disgusting
