Would You Have Taken The Money Like Carlos Boozer?

I dont think anyone here would turn down the money. I think Boozer is one of the few NBAers you could consider to be "underpaid".

Boozer was like the Larry Hughes of that FA class. Utah couldn't sign anyone to a big contract other than AK47, one of their draft picks. Boozer was outthere. He had been hurt. He was a 2nd round pick. He could be really good and scouts had known about him since he was 15. Utah took a chance and threw way moremoney at him than anyone else was offering. He took the deal.

Boozer also liked the fact that Jerry Sloan wanted a low post scorer and that's exactly what Boozer wanted to do. In Cleveland he would compete with Big Zfor low post touches.

EDIT: Also, Boozer lives in Los Angeles. I don't think very many Jazz players call Salt Lake City their year round home.

I've always wondered if Cleveland fans would've stuck by Boozer knowing that he would be injured a bunch after he got traded? The Jazz took a huge riskand it is finally paying off for them.

No.

There's no way.

I'd be a terrible athlete for an agent to represent, because I really and truly don't give a hot crap about money. Yes, I know money pays the bills andkeeps you fed and stuff, but damn, you offer me 6 years for $39mil, I'm your employee, man. The hell am I going to do with $70mil that I can't do with$39mil? At some point, enough is enough, and 'more than you can reasonably spend' is 'enough', in my opinion. And $39mil is way more than Icould ever reasonably spend.

You guys DO know there are hundreds of stories throughout the years of athletes taking less money to play with different teams, right?

I don't need his $70mil or A-Rod's $400tril per game or whatever other astronomical contracts are out there.

My agent would hate me.
