Official Oakland Athletics 2012 Season Thread (94-68) AL WEST CHAMPIONS - Page 2

smiley: laugh Of course Miggy is done, come on. The team isn't expected to compete this year (realistically), so I just want to see some fun players to watch when I go out to the park.

Great Storylines:

C- Kurt "The big Hurt" Suzuki put on 20 lbs of muscle this off-season, goes on to hit 25+ bombs
1B- Chris Carter breaks out of his "bust" title and hits 30+ bombs
2B- Jemile Weeks continues where he left of last season, hitting .300+ and swiping 40+ bags
SS- Cliff Pennington plays great defense, but also hits marginally above .275
3B-Over-the-hill Miguel Tejada provides a solid defensive option at 3rd, while returning to his roots in Oakland and putting up a respectable .240 BA
OF1- Coco Crisp does what he do, but don't get injured, and make his granmama proud by stealin 70 bags
OF2- Yoenis "The Cuban Missle" Cespedes has a monster year, with splits of .320/.394/.462 while leading the surging A's offense deep into the regular season...
OF3-Someone named Seth Smith or Reddick or Cowgill or Gomes or someone else plays solid right field and hits above .260
DH Manny Ramirez, fresh off a 1.5 year suspension, hits 17 homers in his 100 games he plays, and doesn't make a complete fool of the orginization

smiley: pimpsmiley: pimpsmiley: pimpsmiley: pimpsmiley: pimp

Man, I'm convincing myself just typing that all out.

My projected lineup:

2B Weeks
CF Crisp
LF Cespedes
DH Carter
C Suzuki
1B B. Allen (I dont care how inconsistent he is I HATE Daric Barton)
RF Redick
3B Donaldson
SS Pennington

SP McCarthy
SP Colon
SP Ross
SP Parker
SP Peacock/Milone

Replace whoever is doing the worst with Dallas Braden when he can go.

Closer - has to be Grant Balfour, I cant deal with Fuentes

If Cespedes proves that his arm cannot be ignored, then I expect Melvin to move him into CF. To hell with Coco and his two year deal.

Anyone think Carter is going to actually figure it out? This has got to be his LAST chance.

Fuentes will be closing or atleast i hope

id rather have weeks bat 9th then crisp at lead off...i think it'll take some pressure off weeks since its gonna be his first full season IMO.

you guys better hope carter learns how to hit a damn breaking ball.

Cannot wait for the A's to move and the Raiders either tear down/restore the Coliseum to a football-only facility. Hate seeing them share the same field and having the A's deal with ****ed up grass.

dallas and manny bff for the year
how he goes from matsui to manny speaks volumes to the personality of "209" (manny already calls him that all the time)

MLB likely to uphold San Francisco Giants' territorial rights in San Jose, leaving the A's stuck in Oakland
Baseball to tell Oakland ... no way, San Jose

TAMPA - After a whirlwind winter of wheeling and dealing, in which he traded three All-Star pitchers and signed both Cuban expatriate, Yoenis Cespedes, and MLB renegade Manny Ramirez, Billy Beane went to Hollywood for the Oscars last week as a guest of Brad Pitt (who played him in a 2011 film) and Sony Pictures, with visions of one day soon taking his revised on-field version of “Moneyball
