Official Oakland Athletics 2012 Season Thread (94-68) AL WEST CHAMPIONS

A's lefty Brett Anderson threw just 48 pitches in his start against the Tigers on Wednesday before exiting with one out in the third because of a right oblique strain.

It's a tough blow for the A's, considering oblique injuries typically call for at least two weeks of rest and often more. Anderson could potentially be done for the regular season, though it's unclear the severity of the injury.

PLEASE. NO. :smh:

Let's see... about two weeks away from the end of the season and we got this far? I'll find the strength to call this a good season and accept that we're not going to the playoffs.

*softly weeps*

14 games left. 3.5 games above the Angels. We just got to keep battling out there. Our schedule is brutal and we may have just lost Brett for the year. And we got 3 rookies starting in NY for the first time ever. This will be interesting...

The offense is really going to have to step up to take some pressure of these young kids, otherwise this could be a real disappointing end to the season.

I'm nervous/worried about our playoff chances but I was also worried after we got swept by the Angels at home. I hope Melvin talks to the guys tomorrow and just keeps there confidence up. It won't be easy, but I just want to see them fight it out and hopefully we can get in.

I just don't want to get bombarded on this road trip...

Anderson done for the regular season. That hurts. McCarthy, Anderson, and Colon done. Man, I hope these kids can hold there own to finish the season.

He'll miss those last two starts and hopefully be available for a Wild Card matchup. After what happened to AJ Griffin I find that I have no faith in any of our rooks in a one game do or die.

Neither do I. I hate this 1 game playoff BS. I'm against the 2nd WC team but if you're going to add it, make it a 3 game series.

Angels lose. Another tough series coming up, let's hold our own and play better than we did in Detroit.

He's been a nice surprise and I'm glad to have him, but dude really cannot hit with runners on. He's got to control his emotions better, hopefully he will learn next year.

What a waste of a beautiful outing by Parker. Kid pitched his heart out and can't even get a damn run. :smh:

HUGE win today. Yesterday's loss was so heartbreaking, I really didn't think they could come out today and get the W.

10 games left and only a 2.5 game lead on these Angels. The Rays are still right there also.

7 of our last 10 are against the Rangers. :x

This final week and a half is going to be crazy. We really need our starters to go deeper into the games because our bullpen is beat up. Offense is going to have to show up in Texas also, otherwise we may not hold onto this final WC spot much longer.

Man, we really gotta play better defense. Can't keep making errors. Also, offense needs to score some more runs, not sure how long Straily will last out there.
