Cameron out as Dolphins coach
Dolphins coach Cam Cameron was fired Thursday morning, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports, continuing the team's shakeup following the hiring of Bill Parcells as head of football operations.

Cameron's fate was decided a day after the Dolphins hired Jeff Ireland as their new general manager and less than a week after Cameron finished a 1-15 season in his first year as an NFL head coach.

Parcells' call also means the Dolphins will have their fifth head coach in five seasons in 2008.

Bad personnel decisions over the past decade are a major reason for the decline of the Dolphins, once a perennial playoff team. They're sitting out the postseason for the sixth year in a row, and only an overtime win against Baltimore last month prevented them from becoming the NFL's first 0-16 team.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Just some people just be a Head Coach at any level and hesone of them

Well now cam cameron is gone and on sun-sentinel.com i saw a video of zach thomas revoming his parking sign with his name on it. so hes out too

I just read an article on Bill Parcels starting out horribly as a head coach like Cameron has. Now watch Cam win a Super Bowl or some Championship with his newteam.

Peace Cam.

I wonder if this means that we'll be after Jason Garrett. He was a Dolphins coach last year, not like he wouldn't be comfortable back in Miami. We'll see what happens.

Peace out, Killa Cam...hell get work somewhere else...just not the right situation 4 him...

just noticed that the dolphins fired hudson houck [offensive line coach].

not sure how he did with the miami o-line, but he did wonders for the chargers o-line when he was down in san diego.

he'd be a good hire for a team who is in need of a good o-line coach. he was actually the highest paid o-line coach from what i remember at the time of hissigning with miami.

Tony Sparano would probably be the Dolphins lead candidate for HC, instead of Garrett. Parcells would probably rather go with Sparano because he has workedwith him before and Sparano has more experience than Garrett. Don't know if Tuna would be comfortable putting the team in the hands of a guy with less than3 years coaching experience, no matter how much potential Garrett may have.

Bout damn time!! idk how he became a head coach he alwayz looked confused on the side line!! like he dont kno what's going on or what plays to call 1-15get him out of here

I've been screaming this all season. I for one, applaud the decision to fire Cam. Drafting a punt returner in the 9th round, foregoing contact in trainingcamp, and all of the idiotic coaching decisions displayed throughout the season. As a true Dolphin, I seen Cam Cameron at the helm of a lot of the mishaps thatoccurred for us this season. There is absolutely no excuse for 1-15, despite the injuries, a proud, and historic franchise such as Miami should never enduresomething like that. I honestly didn't see us making the playoffs at the beginning of the season, however, second in the AFC east wasn't too farfetched.

Man i feel for Cam. I know u must succeed ASAP in the NFL if you think you should keep your job, but damn they did ya man dirty. Had no qb, running game wasdead since Ronnie went out, Booker didnt really feel for the rebuilding, Ginn Jr. just developing, and a defense who really just did not give a hoot anymore.Cam had his faults but it seems like everyone should just be put out b/c of this bad season. But at the end of the day, "It is what it is."

He would be a perfect fit for the 49ers. Much better than Martz. 49ers already said they would no pursue Martz. Scott, get on this.

Bill Parcells is about to go out and hire someone to be his puppet. Either Mo Carthon or Tony Sparano will be the next coach in Miami. Jason Garrett isn'tin a position where he needs to be in a rush for a job. He can pick his spots and really wait for the job of his liking. Being held under Big Bill's thumbwith no talent in Miami isn't a job Jason will have any interest in.

this is bad news for dolphin fans. all ireland keeps talking about is the vision that he and parcells have for this team, and that cam wasn't all the wayon board.

it seemed pretty obvious to me that cam wanted to rebuild; so, if parcells thinks he is going to win now, he is in for a shock, and so are fin fans. until thefins rebuild, they will be mediocre forever.

as far as i'm concerned, cam did the fins a favor. if he had won, say, 4 games, were would that put the dolphins? not with the number one pick. this teamis terrible, and getting the number one pick is the best thing that has happened to this organization in a long time. if saban had never left, he probablywould have got five wins out of this team and left them with the number eight pick.

the fins were lucky to get someone like cam who had the sense to see that it is time to rebuild. if parcells doesn't see it that way, look for him to quitin about three years.
