Whats this difference between the AJ1 & AJ1 Phat

Just seen a couple new releases coming out for the AJ1 Phat (none to my liking) and it got me thinking...
I was wondering what the differences are between the AJ1 Retro and the AJ1 Phat?

The University Blue Phat that released this past weekend is nice.

The Phat has a nice silhouette.

I think the AJ1 phat does not do justice to the AJ1. In fact I think it is single handedly destroying the beauty of the shoe.

With the recent drop in 1's just wanted to revive this thread...

There really is no reason besides hype. Some of the colorways that come out for the "Phat" are better than the ones that come out for the AJ1. Extra padding for the tongue, plus better color ways with less hype and can often be had for $60-70.

Only thin missing is hype.

I have the reb/black lows with PHAT LACES lol I thought that was the only difference and the air jordan wings logo on the heel.
