Who here buys into "hype"?

Personally, I see a lot of people here going INSANE over some shoes, saying they're going to cop multiple pairs, and even if they're bad quality with $200+ pricetags and still going to cop them!

I buy my shoes if I think they look nice, and there are some damn nice J's out there, but it seems the quality and price isn't consistent across the board. Why bother overpaying for a shoe though by that much if they have bad quality?

Another example of hype was some video I saw of people going insane over the 11's at a mall, trampling each other and shoving others out of the way, all for a pair of shoes.

whatever the price is. Even if it's $160, it seems Jordan Brand sells them in very limited quantities, so if you didn't get them 1st day, then it sucks for you, they easily go for $200+ after that.

Nike got people going crazy. I never see anybody waiting days in line for anything else. The hype is way too real.

I never wait in line though, never have. If I can't get what I want online, I move on.

IMO most of the hype is from people who just want the kicks to flip, trying to get their money team on. smh.

im going to admit it, i really don't like 11's. i don't see the huge thing about them. there's going to be a lot of reaction photos but still. the hype for bred 11's/columbias on the forums made me want to buy them but i gathered my priorities.

I guess everybody has their own reasons for falling into hype. when I see a retro colorway for jordans and it's an og colorway, I get hyped off the memories and if the color is somewhat near like the o.g then I'm copping. like for example..I'm hyped over the Johnny Kilroy 9's simply because of the commercial, and jordan (under) Kilroy, hinting a comeback back in 94. I loved the whole Johnny Kilroy movement. i feel that people who buy kicks should get into the hype because of what the shoe means to them on a personal level, not because it's limited etc.................but to each his own.

Sounds like one of those "I want to fit in so I repeat what everyone else is saying and make a thread about it topics"

No I don't fall into the hype at all. If the shoes does nothing for me I pass.. I had the Chicago Xs, cement 4s in my hands and I wasn't sold on them.. So I walked away and the clerks were like giving me the crazy look.

I only buy the ones that hold a personal meaning for me. Which is why it pi@@es me off to no other when people who don't give two f*#$s about a shoe buy up all the stock like with the cement IVs and recents Xs.

Basically

I buy what I like I could give a S*** less what the rest of the world likes, unfortunately most of the time what I like is a hyped shoe. Guess you win some and lose some....

I buy what I like plain and simple.

If I don't get them in RD, on to the next one.

we all buy into hype.  heck, we're participating on a website called "NIKETALK".

I have no mind or style of my own. I just check a thread about a shoe and if someone makes the comment, "let the hype begin!" then it becomes my grail. This is my method and it works great, I keep guys neck broke at the mall.

I used to buy every single release just to have them. But now I only buy what I like and what I will wear. All I'm really interested in getting are AJ1 black/red, AJ1 white/red/black, AJ1 Black toe high tops (I have the OLNL mids), AJ1 Black/Blue, any other AJ1 that looks good and aren't the phats (the AJ1 is my favorite), AJ11 Black/Red, AJ12 Taxi, AJ13 Black/Red, AJ13 black toes, and I would like to see some AJXX retros. Maybe the white/red AJ19 for basketball. Considering getting the playoff 12s not sure though. Jordan's are starting to die off to me. I was thinking about getting a pair of Yeezy 2s but for $250 they can forget. I would rather buy a luxury shoe like prada for $500 then paying $250 for some rappers Nikes.
