What are your thoughts on "camping"?

I know there's a few different threads on "hype" and other subjects similar, but this one is solely on the idea of "camping".
This forum is full of a diverse crowd of people, young/old, male/female so it'd be interesting to hear different sides of the coin.

Have you ever camped before? Will you ever? Why or why not?

I know back in the day people could go into a store hours after they open and purchase a pair.

But now it seems most, if not all releases, you have to line up 4+ hours for releases if you want a pair.

In my opinion, if there is hype centered around a certain release (limited quality, OG colorway, not-retro'd in a while; aka Chicago 10's) there will be people who "camp".

For me it seems that most of the "campers" are younger, but are there any older NT'ers, say 30+ that still/will "camp" for a release?

There's some releases coming out this year (Gold Medal Pack/Bred 11's) that almost certainly require "camping", unless you do your homework beforehand.

With all that said, once again, just discuss how you feel about this and whether or not it is "Killing the game" or something that adds to the "appeal" of it.

no, no, & no
my time is precious and i have great patience
i do my homework" so to speak

and it does kill "the game" as yall call it due to most campers only camping to resell

I've waited in a line for a few hours before. Most recently for the Banned 1s, got there at 430 and was at work for 908am. Well worth the wait and I wouldn't have picked up the shoes other wise. Everything else though I either do my homework and lock down a pair beforehand, get a pair online or skip the release. I've got enough of my must haves that I don't think I'll ever sleep in a line, and if I want it bad enough I'll end up paying the premium down the line.

C'mon now. Since when has the Jordan Brand forum become ISS?

Me personally I would never camp more than 4 hours for anything ..seeing guys outside.of an store a full week before the release is absurdto me specially if it was real the guys that's camping for the yeezy 2s a full month in advance

I have never camped for anything and probably never will. My pride won't let me. I'd rather pay a reseller than to sleep outside a sneaker store for days for something that took no more than $5 to make. The energy camping would be better spent utilizing your taents to make the money to get whatever sneakers you want IMO.

camping is only okay if you're a teenager or are in your early 20's. if you're in your late 20's and older and are camping with kids half your age, you really need to re-evaluate your priorities.

Time is Money...I WILL not camp for some shoes...My wife calls me crazy to wait a couple of hours for 'em...but I will not camp day and night for shoes...It's just shoes folks!

If I truly want the shoes and can't get them at release date, it's an ol' well...get 'em next time...if not life goes on...

Last time I camped was for cdp xi/xii for an hour.....since then told myself never again. Got enough sneakers to last a lifetime now. Don't care if I miss out anymore.

Waited about a couple of hours for the Grape V release.
And most recently waited an  hour and a half for the Cement IV release.
That's about my limit for camping.
I'm an older guy so from now on if I can't purchase them instore or online, I'll just take the hit and pay the mark-up if it's a shoe that I really want.

The only time I ever waited in line for kicks was for the Cool Greys & even then it was only for like an hour & the kicks weren't even for me (kinda regret passing on them now). Never will campout for more than a couples hours for some kicks & that would have to be an extreme occasion. If i miss out i've just accepted either pay reseller prices, wait for a deal, or move on. It is what it is.

I don't have a connect yet, and I don't have the extra money to buy online.. my computer isn't fast enough to try my luck online because I know I'll strike out and be late to the lines at my local mall. My area is filled with hypebeasts so it's either I beat them out there or they beat me. Almost lost the battle for my WC IVs..

I have camped for 80% of the shoes in my collection, and I don't care if people think it's childish. I ain't spending a dime over retail+tax for any of my shoes and I sure as hell ain't payin reseller prices to come on here and post in the LC forum panicking because I'm not sure if my $275 GR pair is legit.

My opinion is, if you have to camp, then camp. No shame in it especially with what the game is today. People who don't have to- that's wonderful and I hope to have that connect one day. But don't bash the people who do it because they probably have no choice like I do.

EDIT- and Hughes, try to calm down with all the new threads homie.. I see you trynna do your thang with all the posts in threads but posting a new thread itself every other day isn't needed.. no shots fired just a suggestion to keep your name good. Everyone already knows you for getting your post count to 1000+ in less than a month.

It's a shame that people love putting me down almost every chance they get.
I know people have jobs, daily activities and whatnot, but to take a minute out of their day to comment negatively on my thread/post is ridiculous.

I have tried to remain calm and cool, but it's getting out of hand.

Never have I once been on any forum on the entirety of the net and had so much backlash towards me when I'm just trying to express how I feel.

It's times like I wish I wouldn't even made the thread.

Anyways..

I really don't mind it sometimes. Well when the weather is good its actually fun, you get to meet some cool people and talk about stuff. The most i camped out was 6 hours for the galaxy Kobe and lebrons. The conversation takes away the time, sports, girls, shoes, anything.

camping's for squares. if you do your homework you wont have to camp. longest i waited was 2 hours for concords.

I will never stand on line outside of a few hours. My time is precious.

Unless i kno it will be an easy camp, i usually will not do it. Camped for 4 hrs to be first in line for an extra pair of concords wasnt too bad. but it still wasnt really worth it considering i secure multiples online already.

I think FutureDHughes wants to apply for the next Mod position opening. He is on here and post often enough to be a moderator. Not hating. Good Luck Bro,
