What are your thoughts on "camping"?

Never really camped, but I have stood in line for a good amount of time. From what I've seen at first, I thought it was really cool how people were camping out for shoes. I thought they were really passionate about Jordans and were really anxious to buy them and wear them, adding to their collection. Everyone would socialize and talk about shoes, everyone would have a great time. NOW, I think it's horrible. Sure some people in line have a love for Jordans, but the rest are there to flip. And there WILL be some kind of altercation or fight.

I can understand kids and teenagers with little to no priorities camping out. But grown adults camping out for a pair of shoes is kind of embarrassing. At some point it has to hit you that it's just a pair of shoes, it's really not that important if you have somewhat of a life. Certainly not important enough to wait 10+ hours in line for. I get that people don't want to pay above retail, but is it worth it to spend 8-12 hours of your time just to save a hundred to a couple bucks. If you have a job, save up or work 10 hours and you have the difference. But to each their own

When you say do your homework, what exactly do you mean? I've tried looking up places to preorder but I usually get back soooooo many results that its completely useless. and when I do find a place that takes preorders I end up paying waaaaay over retail. Do you guys have any tips on how to properly "do your homework" before a sneaker is released? I would love to avoid waiting on line for shoes but I also don't want to pay too much over retail to preorder a pair. Idk how you guys do it but i've red multiple posts where people will say that they got pairs of concords with relative ease. I find this hard to believe because I got to my local store 14 hours before they released and I had to turn back because there were more people on line than the store had pairs. I ended up having to pay $300 for my pair. If this was school I would've def flunked out cuz i don't even know what the "homework" is that you guys are referring to.

Only camp for Doernbecher shoes. Other than that, camping is for the wilderness.

Unless you know somebody that'll hook you up so that you definitely get the sneakers, camping and buying it the minute it releases online will be the only way to get MSRP.

i camp out all the time if I can, It's not that I want to be camping out cause I have no life but I know that if I don't I won't be able to get a pair of ahoes and personally I rather camp then pay some little kid reseller prices cause he camped out. Another reason I camp out is because I have tried to wait and buy online but that like camping out with out having to leave the house only difference when you dont get a pair online your all ready at home. The last camp out I had to do was the ASG release which was just insane!

You gotta look up that NT legit list......that has helped me alot......also you gotta read which sites most of us frequent so you dont get caught buying some b grades or fakes. I pre ordered for the first time ever and Ive been collecting since '89 and only had to pay $14 above retail......Had to wait a month for the shoes though, they come on Wednesday so that was messed up but I have alot of shoes so waiting for a guaranteed pair wasnt that bad......

Where can I find this NT legit list and is there a thread that has the sites you're referring to? $14 above retail is not bad at all and i really don't mind waiting a month because most of the time I don't wear my sneakers until the craze dies down. Nothing worse than walking outside thinkin you're the freshest dude on the east coast and you see hella people with the same sneakers and almost identical fit to go with it. I still haven't worn my concords yet. I'm thinkin of bringing these out in two weeks if the weather permits. Same thing with the cements. I wore them once for like 2 hours. Point is i don't mind waiting as long as i get a pair. In fact, i think i'd prefer to wait cuz its hard to not wear the sneakers right away.

imo camping depends on the person. I've seen hypebeasts, kids, and middle age men camping out. I've camped out three times. Banned 1's, WC 4's, and Concords. I was probably camping for 3 hours for all three of them.
It's a great way to tell who really is a "sneakerhead" in line, but some people take things way too seriously with camping out for 6+ hours. That's ridiculous lmao

I remember back in high school, camping out with my friends was something to do just to make it throguh that Friday. Those were good times and a lot of fun meeting different sneakerheads.

I've lined up early for shoes numerous times, but I've never camped out for shoes. EVER. I also don't get why some people continue to do so even though they know the store only has 10 pairs and they're number 100 in line. I mean unless it's a lottery, there's really no reason to waste any more time in line. With today's reselling mentality, most people who don't get their size will buy another size anyways to flip.

Or another hot release they have no interest in.
Which is why they stay in line.

Exactly.
I remember when the Concords dropped, and a Champs associate stated they only had 12 pairs but there was about 60 people in line.

So OBVIOUSLY a few people wasn't getting a pair.

Btw, people showed up Thursday night. It wasn't even a midnight release.

Camping makes for stories and you get to meet people with the same interests as yourself, except for the damn resellers. I believe camping can be fun when the weather permits. It makes for good times. I used to camp more often before but it just gets too crazy nowadays. Nowadays, the only time I camp is when I fail online. Thank goodness I haven't failed online yet. I'll tell you that there is a sense of satisfaction in copping and holding the shoe on release day though, at least for me.
