Listen this is what we know:
Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna and took her to tower of joy.
Rhaegar made her the prettiest of the land
Aerys was a mad King.

What we think :
Rhaegar secretly married Lyanna
Rhaegar impregnated Lyanna.


What we have been told in the book:
Jon is Ned's son
We don't know who is mother is .

Ned is Jons father, no one has said different, we have not been told differently.
PERIOD.

the search is for who his mother is.


This is why I always say with that theory i get tired of hearing it because it is claimed to be fact,

First I want to say thank you for posting those links. Secondly; I'm truly going to feel bad for you if in fact R+L=J. You have been such an advocate against the theory, that I can just imagine you being extremely pissed if you're wrong. :lol:
 
I wouldn't be pissed, a bit disapointed that out of all things in the book that (COULD POSSIBLY) BE the only thing that was easy to guess.

BUT


if it's not true. i won't gloat, i wont meme up the butt hurt pics.
I just want 2 things.
1. for no one to be like "he changed it because we all guessed it" (which in an interview he said he wouldn't do)
2. people to act like their theory was so bullet proof, and they act like they were in such shock and disbelief it didnt happen and turn away from the book because of it.


Listen since the very first page of book 1 , we've been kept in the dark about many things.
Who would have thought Jaime would have pushed bran out the window,
or Joffery would be such a punk
or Sansa would turn on her family,
or Robert would die
or Ned would get his head cut off
Drogo dying
dany birthing dragons (somewhat perdictable as you kept reading)
book 2
all that stuff would happen, black water bay fight.
book 3.
red wedding
purple wedding
jamies hand being cut off
Joff dying.
who did it and why (which as far as the book we still dont have a clear cut answer too) (The show is who/what clued us in)
we knew Lady Olena had a hand in it, but not that she physically did it. nor did/do we know little finger was a part of it)
book 4/5
well everything.

You see what im getting at. I've been with this book for a long time and NONE of these were accurately predicted.

So what's really the point of going with such a "predictable/clear cut" Theory, if NOTHING else has happened according to what most fantasy book readers are accustomed to..

and again unless this ice dragon theory proves true. him being R+L or A+L makes no real difference. He has no claim to anything, if it was reported earlier like book 1 Robert would have had him killed (possible reason for Ned not telling anyone anything)

You see where I'm coming from..... This isn't from a place of me just being a jerk and wanting to be against the grain, it's coming from what i've read and know

I don't think anyone claiming that R+L=J is FACT it's a theory, that has overwhelming evidence. 

What we do know:

George RR Martin asked the show runners "who is Jon Snow's mother" and they answered correctly. He wouldn't have asked them if the clues weren't there.

Also the parentage of Jon Snow is clearly written to be  a mystery meaning, it's up to the readers to try and pick up on the clues to solve the mystery. 

You can choose to not believe R+L=J if you want, but not reading up on theories or speculating is no fun IMO 
 
ive been fine with concealing post but at the same time why.....it's a whole other board... feel like we're being punished because curiosity is getting the best of people.

It's not about that. It's because you can see a preview of the last post from the main Gen section. And you can't turn it off on mobile.

It's how I first heard of the Red Wedding.

thats what im saying. Curiosity is already peaked by the thread name being asiof book threads...check back on my post and many otherss we have been doing that for like 2 years bow. But stuff like are r+l debate nothing was really secret in our text or being previewed thats fact in the book the show watchers dont or should nt know about now any way. Ill continue to do it. But just how I feel. About that . Curiosity killing you that much to get spoiled. Then just read or wiki

Would it be safe to assume that with next weeks episode being 66 minutes long,we're probably being set up for the most satisfying and best season finale yet? Interested in how they'll fit everything together but I can't wait for Tyrions escape,Stannis and the cavalry coming to the Nights watch's defense and LS making her appearence all in the same episode

They have a lot of stuff to wrap up. I don't know if we'll ever see Val but Stannis needs to show. Arya has to say **** the hound and get on a boat to Braavos. Tyrion needs to escape have that conversation with Jamie kill Shae and Tywin and leave kings landing. Then lady stoneheart which I suspect will be the final scene of the season. Hopefully they keep the scene where the brotherhood hangs one of the freys.
We also never got Arya's wolf dream of her finding Caitlyn.

I actually think that can wait until next season. Stannis sets up shop at the wall and then the vote goes down.
I just want to see him behead Janos Slynts punk self. I'm still sad over Grenn. I know Donal Noye wasn't going to be on the show but I really wanted to hear his take on Robert, Stannis and Renly. The whole gold copper and steal analogy told a lot about why Stannis would make a horrible king.
