I'm believe GoT won't surpass 7 seasons. S5 will mostly be DwD like mentioned previously.

Season 6 will be The Winds of Winter & season 7 will be Dream of Spring.

They didn't change Mance Rayder storyline for the show, at least not yet.

In the books "Mance Rayder" was given up to the Lord of Light by being burned at the stake, but it's later revealed that the Mance who was burned was an impostor and through some sorcery by Melisandre OG Mance Rayder is still alive and well.

We'll see if the show follows this storyline.

I would be surprised if we see Mance again in the series.
 
So I ordered the first 5 books from Amazon to be sent to my kindle cloud reader
It was only 13 dollars
Am I in for a treat???
Like are the books slow???
I read pretty fast
But just curious is the book as entertaining as the show???

The books are awesome my favorite book is " A clash of Kings" Tyrion is in straight boss mode in that book. I love when him and Vary's have dialogue with each other, they are so nice at being mean to each other. :smokin

If you don't want to, you really don't have to read book 1, the show did an excellent job at recreating the book. there is only a few details left out you might need..

Key notes would be
indepth in to neds head.
Dany and Drogos real relationship (she was never raped)
and the sadness of Sansa


book 2 is where the show changed a few things...

Nah, that's the Valyrian dragon whistle Euron got. I'm talking the horn that Mance said he looked for & got, which was later burned, that either breaks The Wall or awakens giants. Now it's either at the Winterfell crypts, which would explain Mance's spear wives asking about the crypts or it's the dinky one Sam found, on some Indiana Jones Last Crusade steez. Also, people talking about an ice dragon under the Wall.

A few things.

Wow at Sansa at Winterfell. I wonder how that is gonna play out. Think I might like that over the Harry the Heir plot.

Definitely need more Dorne. Wonder what role Jamie will be taking. Thinking maybe he will thwart the Myrcella attempt?

Still getting bored with Dany's plotline.

A lot of foreshadowing with the High Septon having to do his walk of shame.

As for the A + L theory. Kings Guard doesn't necessarily have to be with the King. Myrcella had a Kingsguard in Dorne and Jamie was all through the Riverlands. Arthur Dayne and Rhaegar were supposed to be BFFs so he coulda sent them to ToJ. I agree that Rhaegar was plotting to overthrow Aerys.

As for kingsguard. They do what the king commands them to do. A kg is with myrcella because cersi the queen regent commanded it.

I'm actually really liking the direction they're taking some of these arcs this season,I was put off by all the changes initially but if it means we get to see a big epic battle of Winterfel at the end of the season I'll be happy :lol:

Spoiler about the TV show and Tyrion's lineage. Don't click unless you saw episode three which is as far as I got:

When the red priestess was talking about how great the Targaeryan's are and the. Froze mid speech and stared up into the rafters and locked eyes with Tyrion's across the room and then kept staring...

Is that supposed to be a hint or a red herring at the whole Tyrion is Aerys's son theory?

Likewise. I was upset at first but I want to see where these stories are going now.
 
Is it safe to say we want see Lady Stoneheart on the show? Was really looking forward to that. Doubt it's going to happen since they're going further away from the books.

Just started book one and was wondering this..where does book 2 begin? Season 2 of the show? I've heard from a few as well about skipping book one of you remember everything in Season 1

Read Book 1. Yes its just like Season 1 but you get more insight from the book because its told in first person from each character. Trust me, you are missing out by skipping books
 
Season 2 starts at the beginning of book 2.
I would maybe skip and read some catelynn chapters in book 1 because then youll see some robb stuff. Remember rob doesnt have pov chapters at all. Its told through catelynn


And to be on the subject of liking the shows direction.
Yes and no. Theyre changing a lot of characters personality..... dany not bput that life.
Catelynn was way more of a bish to jon
Jaimee wasnt as much as a worrier as he is now.
Cersi was the one who got frazzled at times. (Now shes cool and calm)
Sansa really didnt come in to her own til about now.
Stannis was way more broken after blackwater bay. Melisandre was running the show for a long time
Davos had a bit more of a part
Just for example.

But a lot of show things are great
Varys and little finger
Tyrion
Ramsay
Tywin
All play thise parts great
