Damon Stoudamire wants out of Memphis

What I'm saying is that he would be a waste coming off the bench, he is a starter, he deserves to be a starter, he's still one of the best shooters in the league.
i concur. he just seriously needs to stop being so unselfish. countless times when i am watching games i catch myself saying "shoot itmike!" instead he dishes it off for a "better look".

I thought I was alone,

, I think Mike should take more shots then everyone else on the floor every game unless the opposing team has a relatively weakdefense inside.

all jokes aside, damon stoudamire is a down-to-earth dude. i helped him while he was shopping.

no more jokes aside: damon, you can come back to portland and play behind sergio

, that would put him in the same exact situation he's in @ Memphis! Actually, that'd make him a fourth string point, behind Jack, Blake, Sergio, and then his spot.

Damon Stoudamire is close to reaching a buyout agreement with the Memphis Grizzlies that would allow the 34-year-old point guard to sign as a free agent witheither the Boston Celtics or the Phoenix Suns, a source told ESPN.com on Saturday.

There remained a possibility, however, that the Grizzlies would decide against a buyout if one of several teams seeking Stoudamire upped its offer in tradetalks.

Either way, a resolution was expected within the next several days.

The Celtics, Suns, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets have all discussed trade possibilities with the Grizzlies to acquire Stoudamire, the 1996Rookie of the Year and a 12-year veteran. Stoudamire was the Grizzlies' starting point guard over the first two months of the season before rookie MikeConley was promoted. Stoudamire has not played since Dec. 30.

A source with knowledge of the trade talks said the situation also was being impacted by the possibility of Sam Cassell being traded or bought out by the LosAngeles Clippers.

Cassell is in the final season of a contract paying him $6.156 million. Stoudamire is earning $4.35 million this season and has one season remaining at $4.65million, half if which is guaranteed.

Of the five teams known to be seeking Stoudamire, the Celtics appear to have the greatest need. Boston does not have a true point guard behind starter RajonRondo, a second-year pro who has missed three of the past four games with back and hamstring injuries.

I'd like to see him on the Suns, actually.

Having a REAL PG to back-up Nash, that'd be interesting.

I saw that you had posted Zo, and first I thought, this dude's gonna bash Damon.

Yeah, I think Damon would be a good fit for the Suns, he's still a good shooter, and he can handle the ball better than most of the dudes on the Suns notnamed Nash/Hill.

Exactly. What could possibly be the downside of signing a veteran PG that could still contribute for 10-15 minutes / game. He wouldn't try to do tomuch like Banks, and could keep the team under control. Obvioulsy, the team wouldn't run like with Steve, but he would definately be an upgrade from anybackup PG that we've had over the past three + years.

And, why would I bash Damon? He's a Wildcat.

. He wouldn't try to do to much like Banks, and could keep the team under control.
Banks can play some d tho... can stoudamire? Stoudamire can shoot and won't be too outta control like banks and barbosa are.

We were hoping to sign P.J. Brown, but he doesn't look like he's coming back.

Sign Damon instead.

Damon Stoudamire and the Memphis Grizzlies made a verbal agreement to buy out his contract on Saturday.

The deal could be official today, or as late as Monday, but it looks like a done deal. Stoudamire hopes to sign with the Celtics, but apparently the Raptors and Suns are viable also. Having just lost starting point guard Mike Conley to a rib/chest injury, the Grizzlies are likely to add a backup point guard in the near future.
