There are unpadded white collar
 
They did a short run of black collar unpaddeds last year

don't see too many of them as mostly actual runners bought them up

Unpadded came in both white and black collar versions.

I own an unpaddded white collar pair and because the white collar wraps flush around your ankle they get dirty very easily. When wearing with no-show socks or no socks at all.

So I bought the padded white collar version. The additional inner collar padding is black and therefore does not get noticeably dirty.

I get back from vacation and of course I can't find white Trainers in a 10.5

Shoulda pulled the trigger beforehand. How often does NDC restock these?
 
Honestly - what does it matter?

Padded or unpadded - they're just gonna get trashed or replaced by the next "it" shoe in a few months.

Wear them to the ground and don't fret. Just sneaks, bruh.

It does matter to some.

IMO the padded version takes away from the minimalist sock like feel that the unpadded version provides.

To me thats a HUGE difference some differ but thats okay.

Me neither. I'm actually thinking of selling my OG unpadded Whites and Blacks. I don't think need doubles of these. Especially not the Blacks. If I can sell them for more than I bought them for (just b/c they're unpadded)...why not?

The padded versions are great. Not that you should care what anyone else thinks of your shoes, but none of my peers even noticed the difference when I switched b/w padded and unpadded.

nobody buys their shoes so their peers can tell which version they are. it's about comfort, i prefer the unpadded and believe the padding defeats part of the purpose of the Flyknit.

This debate has been on-going since the first time padded trainers came about. My stance is more or less the same as yours and a few others on here. If i wanted padded shoes, I would go buy any other trainer in the nike line. Flyknits originally came unpadded and I wish for them to remain that way. The padding clearly disrupts the natural sock-like feeling of the original version. My trainer career already ended and I'm happy with what I've acquired (minus blue glows and squoias), focusing on racers from here on then.

My dudes, what does it matter. We get it, it's suppose to be a minimalistic shoe but padding was added for runners or not for runners.

It's a shoe and different people prefer different things. Buy what you like, what's comfortable, and quit worrying about the next guy and trying to persuade one side why your opinion is better.

Anyways, hope all the NTers that got their Volts enjoy them. Glad I could help out.
