Just got a pair of the blacks Trainers from the FNL restock. They still have a good many sizes, and the SAVEME20 coupon code works for them.

Quick question though; I wear a 8.5 in Free Runs and Lunarglides, so I ordered the same in these. Do they fit the same? I'm sure it's been answered, just don't feel like looking through 86 pages to be honest. Thanks.

If you have a "regular" sized foot, 1/2 down is the way to go for the Trainers, imho.

Oh, okay. Well I have a pretty wide foot, so keeping TTS should be okay then?

You should be fine then. I have a pretty narrow-to-regular shaped/sized foot, so that's probably why I'd go 1/2 down.

Yeah, in every shoe I wear the outside of my foot rubs against the shoe. But when I order even a .5 up, they are too long and my shoes crease like crazy. So I just have to suck it up most times, and wait until they break in. After the break in time though, they usually feel good.

Thanks for help guys. I'm really looking forward to them. I've only heard great things about them.

Haha I just got home from visiting the little bro at college and wasn't really paying attention to the site. FAIL AGAIN. Got the red/green ones off Running Center though. Was thinking about the electric greens but they look a little too much like the Volts (which I already have) to justify me paying $150.

Call back....  Alex answers the phone, tells me he will go get Jamie.  I sit on hold for another 10 minutes.  He comes back and says, we are not doing any more phone orders today.  I tell him, can he put them on hold for me until tomorrow.  I'll give him my CC to hold them if necessary.

Dude laughs, says yeah, I'll see what I can do, and then hangs up.  I wish I lived in Chi right now.  I would drive down there and let their manager know about this  lack of customer service.  I get not being able to, and company rules or whatever.....

But, if that is how Nike does....  it's a shame for customers who spend a couple thousand a year on sneaks and clothes.

I feel your pain. I been waiting for NT Chi to reopen to order my FlyKnit Trainer in Volt in a size 9. Since it was a re-grand opening, they have a ton of issues with their phones and etc. Spend hours on the phone on hold as various people check and re-check what I was asking for. Operation is a mess with two people running it, Alex and Sergio I believe, they are really nice though.

9/27: Place hold on shoes until end of the day, since they didn't allow phone orders until Monday 10/2! What to see if my friend in Chi can get them for me. 1:20 minutes of waiting.
9/28: Friend can't get the shoes were released back on the stock floor, however, THEY SAID I CAN DO A PHONE ORDER! JOY! Order it! 1:10 minutes of waiting. They CALLED ME BACK LATER IN THE DAY TO CANCEL MY ORDER SINCE corporate said they can't do orders for FLYKNITS until 48 hours after their grand re-opening to ensure people in Chi gets them 1st. I get it. They told me to call tomorrow to re-order it!
9/29: Re-ordered it in a size 9.5 since they sold my 9! Waited about 1 hour on the phone with them............But I got them!

FYI: Trainers ring up $79.99 at the Outlets and Racers $99.99 too.

Where'd this guy go that said they were at outlets for $79 & $99?

Put the first 5 miles on my red trainers and wow. They are quite comfortable. For the past....2-3 years all i ran in were Frees. I normally don't run more then 3-5 miles though. But man I felt like i could run forever in these things. Had no leg fatigue.

Still love my free's for cross training and they really help out since i play soccer strengthen my feet/calves. But this weekend me and the flyknits are gonna hit the road see where i end up laugh.gif

I better get volt trainers tomorrow...

Anyone notice a large fit difference between the racers and trainers?

Trainers had just god awful heel slip for me, but racers fit like a glove.

I think this is why people are saying size .5 down in trainer. I have free run 2s and 3.0's in a size 11. the 3.0's fit like a glove, there is a little room in my FR2's but don't know if going down half a size would be do able.
My trainers in a size 11 have heel slip. I basically am just going to wear them casually or days at the gym where i do elliptical then lift. But my trainers in a 10.5 are glove like and fit almost perfect. Everyone has said the Racers fit True To Size so I am assuming they are a little (i don't want to say smaller) tighter then the trainer in the same size.

I have Trainers in both 12.5 and 13 and although both fit fine (even when I run) I prefer the 12.5 - I am a 13 in most everything else though.

Also just wanted to share my recent pickups.... more en route but international shipping takes forever mean.gif

Flyknits to me are nothing more than a lifestyle sneaker. I've worked out in my Trainers before and they performed horribly (as expected). My New Balance Minimus which cost half crush them in terms of performance.

Just out of curiousity did you run in them? I do my leg days and plyometric days in Nike free run 3.0 because i like the mininmalist feel as well but running in these was great for me. I was more then satisfied with cushioning and ride these delivered

I love my NB Minimus. Especially for legs days, plyometrics and trail runs. With that being said, there is no way that someone can run on man made surfaces over long distances in the Minimus. That would be too much impact on an average runner. I am a very strong runner and athlete and running everyday in the minimus over long distances on concrete/asphalt would tear up my legs, even with building up to it. In this area of running, the Flyknit is superior.

Fair enough but then what's the point of the Trainer? I get that the Racer is a running shoe, but where does the Trainer fit in?

Some people prefer a light and more cushioned shoe for training than a barefoot feel, that is why they offer Free Trainers with 3.0, 5.0 and 7.0 soles.

Running also isn't as simple as just having more cushioned pair of shoe. There neutral, stability, barefoot and racing. For running, the FK Trainers are more neutral pair of shoe(?) for longer runs(technically considered a form of training) while the FK Racers (based on the name) is more of a racing/track shoe for shorter runs. I get the impression that FK Trainers is the Pegasus while FK Racers is the Zoom Spider? Maybe not as low as the Spiders but you get the idea.

I better get volt trainers tomorrow...

heh, i hope you don't end up with blisters like i did...maybe it's just because i have ever-so-slightly wider feet...but i can't really do any serious distance with running in either the fk trainers or racers without gettin' painful blisters...so they've been relegated to just casual wear for me...

i'll stick w/ my saucony (kinvara 3) and new balance (minimus mr10) running shoes for now...with my skechers (go bionic) tossed in here and there for 0mm heel-toe drop feet strengthening action. i did pick-up the nike (free oly powerlines) recently...but have yet to do any serious running in them just yet...

i think for me personally, the fk trainers/racers aren't really "minimalist" running shoes that i've fully transitioned and fully subscribe to now...

To add to RXF45's answer.... The trainer would be more of an everyday running shoe to put miles and miles on. The racer is a more specific "Race Day" shoe meant for marathoners on the day of the race. The trainers are much more mass appeal and the racers are more narrowly defined. I think Nike's manufacturing represents my theory as well. The initial release had 8 color-ways of the trainer and only 2 of the racer. Additionally, the Trainer was available in many more places than the racer. My local Finishline finally has the Trainer in store and does not carry the racer.

On a side note, the Lunar 1's will be a much broader release, and the lunar sole has a much broader appeal.
