I returned one of my rrs Oreo 1, size 9er today. They will get sent back to the warehouse. If anybody wants the pair, try calling in a week.

Since this thread is a little dead at the moment, I thought I would update you guys with a swap I'm working on.  I just started this today, and I still have to find a reasonably priced donor, so dont expect updates that soon.  One of my wife's two MC Trainers was pretty much toast.  I convinced her to let me do my first swap on them.... After getting some promises to not be too mad if I completely destroy them, I started to try to separate the uppers today.  I was a little worried because I have seen some videos where they totally mutilate the uppers, and they end up looking like elf shoes because they shrink the flyknit.  To combat this, I put in some shoe trees (not the IKEA ones
wink.gif
), and started to try to melt the glue between the midsoles.  I took some pictures along the way, and the shoes are air drying at the moment.

Step 1: Trainers with shoe trees inserted.  You can see that the shoe trees are really squished in there.  It took a lot of effort to get them in there, and the shoes actually bent down a little bit after they were inserted:

Step 2, separating the uppers.  For this, I used boiling hot water, that I isolated on the glue part.... I didnt want to just pour it over the entire shoe, so I just used a pitcher and poured it on the midsole.  I also put the boiling water in a tray, and had the water level just above the midsole, so that it was on the glue, but not on much of the upper:

The most important thing is to just go slowly and take your time while separating them.

Here is the final result..... I am keeping the shoe trees in there for a little bit longer, and then I will remove them.  I can probably take them out now, since the water is cold, and it shouldn't shrink up anymore:

thats cool to me just to see the process be done. I definitely dont have the cajones to do it myself. Cant wait to see the finished product.

I paid $110 for a deadstock pair recently

but for your case I don't know what the seller is looking for because it's a sample pair, shouldn't be that expensive it's a GR color

I had sample Beethoven Kobe 9's and samples are only worth a lot if they werent released later, and in your case and mine they were. Dont expect too much a change in value, if any.

I agree with you, he shouldn't pay anymore than that. The value won't be much for now

Anyone know what would be a fair purchasing price for university red racers size 9.5 DS?
I see a bunch of them listed on Ebay around $300-$400. If you check the sold listings you would see that pairs have sold from $180-300 DS

Are you getting them through Ebay?

dragicon dragicon first time to see actual pics of the process for Flyknits so that's cool. Been wanting to sole swap my Sherberts so this might come in handy. What soles are you planning to put on them?

I have a few questions for you if you don't mind answering them.

(Edit: Just realized you talked about #1 and it's still a work in progress so you might not be able to answer all of them, but keeping the questions unedited in case someone else can answer them.)

1. Do you buy a larger size since it'll shrink a bit? Or just applying hot water on the midsole and using shoe trees will be enough to avoid shrinkage?

2. If I don't plan on saving the midsole, would it be better to just destroy or cut out the midsole so I can safely remove the upper without shrinking it?

3. Planning to put either Lunars or use a Racer sole from another pair. Do I use the same size or size up or down for the soles?

Thanks in advance!

yes, he has him listed for 400 but i wouldnt pay more than 300. They look legit and size 9.5 are hard to come by. Im always searching and rarely find any in that size, let alone a DS pair.

@dragicon

Wow it's coming along nice, can't wait to see the final result.

@dragicon can't wait to see final product.

I could never do that. I have a hard time cutting a straight line on paper with scissors.
Thanks guys!  Its not as difficult as you would think... just have to be smart about the process to limit the damage to the shoes.  I'll try and finish them up in the next couple weeks.

No problem! I've got the sherberts on tap to swap as well.  I picked up a pair on disco from RRS for the $65, so I am going to try and swap them because I cannot stand the blue midsole.  As for what I'm going to put on these trainers, I got my wife to approve a lunar sole.  I am probably going to do a LunarTempo, in an off white with pink speckles.  I am trying to find it for a low price, which is proving difficult at the moment.

1. I have heard that some people suggesting buying a half size up, for the upper, and tts for the swapped sole... I am just going to use the TTS for me, as I feel like I will be able to keep the upper the same size.  I had my wife put on the shoes after I took the shoe trees out, and they seem to fit very similar.  I am going to test this out for my own sizing though, and I'll report back the results.  I have a lunar racer sole that I have sized down a half (so it would be a racer size 9 (TTS), and lunaracer 8.5).  I have eyeballed the distances, and the lunaracer still seems a bit longer then the racer, so I'm not too sure how its going to work out.  The shoe trees that I use are these very fancy ones that I dont know if I can find anymore.  They are solid wood, and they expand as you insert them into the shoe.  The back part of the tree compresses using a spring.  I think as long as you can find some sort of shoe tree similar to that, it will work well.

2.  The midsoles from the trainers seemed to have deformed slightly from tearing them off, and I feel like they would work again if i glued them down.  However, the soles of the shoe were shot and falling apart, so I wasn't planning on using them anyways.  With only doing the trainers thus far, my recommendation would be to use the water IF you have shoe trees that you can really jam in there to ensure they dont shrink.  The video of the guy who swapped the acais onto the boosts scarred me because when he separated them from the midsole with boiling water, they just shrunk up and looked like roadkill.  We've also all seen how these things react when put into the dryer... so I was very nervous about the hot water.  However, I think that if you can localize where you put the water, and go slowly, that method works best.  I also used my x-acto blade here and there to help cut some of the glue as it was stretching out.  Cutting the midsole i feel like it would take forever, and you arent going to get such a clean break from the flyknit.  I'll let you know how it goes though with the racers as well.

3. addressed it in #1.

I sold a pretty good pair that was used for $180.  I think $250 for DS is more then reasonable to be honest.

As far as your legit check, they look good..

I got my Game Royals from RRS the other day... As far as I can tell, they are identical to the OG Game Royals.  The new versitions might be SLIGHTLY more vibrant in the weave, but that could also be because I havent cleaned my OG pair for a while.  I would say though they are basically identical.

OG Royals are on the top on all pictures:

Yeah $250 is a great price for a DS pair.

Wow the rerelease game royals looks identical to the OG pair, the blue on the midsole seems to match perfectly with the OG pair as well.
