I own both padded and non padded, and while I do not care for the padding I could not honestly say I wouldn't buy the shoe because of it. A year ago the white trainers released in their original form and I waited on getting a pair until it was finally too late and they were sold out. When they restocked with the padding I was disappointed but there was no way I was going to pass on them. If you were in my situation I'm sure you would realize that having a padded pair is better than none at all. So those saying the padding is awful and persuading others not to buy them just doesn't make sense to me.
Your last quote also strikes me as odd since we're talking about trainers. If the racers started having padding that would be an atrocity, but a training sneaker having padding is fairly common and is seen in almost every Nike model.
I'm going to drop this debate after this last reply. There is really no point in carrying on a subjective conversation. And at the end of the day, we are all just collectors trying to get our hands on what we feel passionate towards.
Some may like the padding, but others (like myself) will never adhere to it. Like I've stated earlier, if I wanted a sneaker with padding I wouldn't pick flyknits as every other sneaker out there has padding of some shape or form. The reason I worship flyknits was due to its incredible natural feel from not having a lining aside from the actual material itself. If Nike had introduced the trainer since day 1 with padding, you can bet I would never have gotten into the trainers nor would I be having this debate now. The fact of the matter that it came out one way and then a year later ended up a different way... well that is disappointing. I also would never patronize the flyknit lunar 1 or chukkas because I personally despise the appearance of lunar midsoles.
