looks like I need new OG laces. F you Monday.

Damn man. So sorry. Looks like you have several splits going. Do you lace them up pretty tight?

I've been running these hard since I got them last year. I thought the white was reflective 3M lol guess I have to get another pair. these are my favorite. it was inevitable

Really need a restock for size 12.5
Of the MC

Have my size 13s and steamed them but 12.5 will be amazing! Really hoping it happens

Are there much differences if at all between version 1 and the newer releases ?

I am looking at these auctions but unsure what to look out for. If someone can shed some light, that'd be great

- Both versions (padded and unpadded) TTS for MOST people.

- OG unpadded versions have oval laces that look great, but become easily untied if you're running in them. New padded versions have ribbon laces that some people don't find appealing (i don't mind them), but are perfect for running.

- Some of those that prefer the OG unpadded like them for aesthetic reasons (minimalistic silhouette). Some of those that prefer the new padded version like them because they are more comfortable/soft on your ankle when running.

Thanks for that

I am mainly going for comfort and to be honest, i dont mind the aesthetics much as this will be for gym/running mainly but i will use for casual wear as well. So about 50 gym training / 50 walking to work

By padded, you mean the OG does not have the zoom air pads on the heel ?

Any pics of the oval vs ribbon laces ?

It's quite hard to find the black trainer as I live in New Zealand. Should i look at other options or ? Like the lunar 1+

Only differences are: 1.) Change from oval laces to flat ribbon laces and 2.) Newer versions have an additional layer of "padding" and fabric around the heel that starts from the first eyelet and goes around the heel cup, it is not very thick but definitely can be felt and seen while wearing.

I have pairs from both and in my opinion the added heel pad takes away from the "flyknit experience". The 1st gen release has more of a sock feel while the newer releases have more of a traditional running shoe feel. If you are looking to wear your pair to run/train in I would recommend the newer release. If you are solely wearing them casually, I'd recommend trying out the older version if you don't mind spending the extra money.

As a side note, when I asked a nike rep why they added the padding he told me "It provides a spring like recoil with each step, which actually woks out and strengthens your calf muscles as you run. The original version has less of a arched heel cup and does not do this." I assume this is why the padding has only been added to the Trainers and not the Racers.

1) OG unpadded / oval laces version

2) NEW padded / ribbon laces version

Like the user above said, I'd go with the OG unpadded (but would not pay an exorbitant amount for) if you're wearing them casually. And I'd go with the NEW padded ones for the working out.

Both have zoom air pads btw (technology is the same in both versions). Only difference is the padding/cushion (or lack there of) around the ankle/heel cup and the laces.

yeah seller is offering $180 paypal invoice shipped for the OG unpadded ones

With that being said, it's still okay to train/work out with the OG unpadded ones, right ? I mean it's not like its just built solely for casual wear only since the OG are still labelled as "trainers" ?

And finally, are there fake flyknits around ?

Of course its ok. They probably just updated them after receiving feedback from some hardcore runners/users. I've ran in both versions and don't have a problem with either. Except that the OG oval laces sometimes tend to untie themselves after a while.

$180 shipped is a decent price for the originals. Considering most people got them for $150 (retail) shipped.

Below is a link to the best fakes I've seen. Some of the colors (tones) are off and the swooshes are painted/dyed on horribly. But the most noticeable difference is that the fake toeboxes are bulky/larger.

Btw all the fakes I've seen replicate the OG versions with no padding and oval laces.

All versions are definitely fine to work out in, that is what they were made for! No hate at those only wearing with skinny jeans to movies and such lol. A complaint I've heard about the unpadded versions is that the heel tab rubs and can creates cuts/blisters on your achilles. I've never had this problem but I mostly run in my padded pair.

People have tried to create fake flyknits but for the most part they are fairly obvious. These shoes are incredibly intricate and unique but if you would like reassurance post pictures to this forum and people will help you out.

Unpadded for me. Doesn't make me bleed at the heel when I wear short socks.

here go my MC racers, i wore them all weekend. best release of the year so far! i think i will skip the trainers and douple on these. hopefully locally so i can find me a blue-ish pair. 8)

The Squadron Blue/Pink Flash sold out fairly quick on NDC.

That's kind of backwards. Most of the people complaining about bisters/cuts/bleeding at the heel say its from the raw unpadded version.
So we don't have a buy/sell/trade flyknit Facebook group ? Haha
I'm down to join one if made. I have backup white trainers and volt trainers that i'll be looking to trade or sell in the future.

* Notice I am NOT attempting to sell/trade them atm nor in this thread. Please do not PM about them.

^those blue/pink trainers have been up on RRS for awhile (i think for preorder).

also, i looked around 6pm and that wasn't even there on the site...could just be a place holder

We know. Was just trying to point out that they were put on NDC in "out of stock" status from the get-go.

Also, the stock photos on NDC make the CW look a lot better than the stock photo on RRS. Excited to see more photos of the Squadron Blue/Blue Glow Trainers.

For sure, those were my thoughts too. The pic makes the colors really pop, while RRS just looks dull.
