THE HUNGER GAMES: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor

I agree with all of that, and hope so too. Outside of the reaping scene, the only well done thing about movie was the casting.

I can't think of one thing Ross contributed that lived up to the book (which ain't even the high of a bar).

I enjoyed the movie, however I read the books after seeing it the first time, and I understand why people aren't very impressed with the adaption. Ross did a horrible job of bringing to life the fear and anguish these characters go through. In the book, the  Games are brutal and unforgiving whereas in the movie you never feel that Katniss or Peeta are ever in true danger. I've been hearing talks that Ross won't come back and I hope he doesn't because his directing was mediocre at best. I'd love to see David Yates take a crack at Catching Fire. He did a fantastic job with the Harry Potter Series, and would his style would be a great one for Catching Fire.

With that being said, I loved the Arcade Fire song " Abraham's Daughter" at the end. I thought it fit perfectly, so of course I had to try my hand at a remix. Let me know your thoughts as NT is always a good place to get honest opinions!

Really doubt they can afford David Yates, cheap as they are.

Almost all the problems with the movie (hiring Gary Ross, only getting half the budget it deserved) came from Collins bringing the books to Lionsgate instead of a real studio.

At this point, I just settled on...it coulda been worse, right?
I mean they casted well?...got around to showing most of the book...hit a few moments right?

I just hope they get just a little bit better director or something. Keeping all hopes down.

She should have brought it to Warner Brothers.....

I don't even understand how Lionsgate could justify not increasing the budget by a huge amount simply based on the success so far. The CGI was piss poor for a movie that had this much anticipation. I've seen movies on the Sci-Fi channel that had better CGI. Battlestar Galactica had better CGI and that was a series. Whoever did the CGI should be fired and banished to The CW channel.

Saw it and really enjoyed it. If there are going to be more I need to read the books.

I saw the racist comments people had about Rue. She was so adorable and I don't know how anyone couldn't be say about her death.

Looking at this thread it wasn't nearly as good as the books so i'll check them out soon

I just got done with Mockingjay,

Spoiler [+]
and is anyone else disappointed on how that book (maybe even the whole series) ended? it seemed a little rushed to me, i mean after she killed coin, it FFWDs a few years to when she got kids? c'mon...

or is it just me? LOLOL

only read the first one.

Did anyone feel like this is one of those books you give to a 14 year old to get them excited about reading?

This is a young adult novel right?

^yea, Hunger Games is crazy easy to read. With the violence, it would've been the coolest thing ever if I was 12.

But for me...Mockingjay was what? 27 chapters?
First 15 or 16 were pretty pointless and repetitive and rambling and terrible.
All of a sudden...8 or 9 chapters of damn near crack, then just about the most anticlimactic and worst written ending I could think of.

And then the fact that they're splitting the last book into 2 movies, says the 3rd movie is probably gonna be terrible. So there's that.

Francis Lawrence (Constantine, I Am Legend, Kings pilot, Touch pilot) is gonna direct the 2nd film.

I don't think they need to split the last book into 2 movies.

Taylor Kitsch of Friday Night Lights game, Garrett Hedlund of Tron: Legacay fame, and Armie Hammer of The Social Network, are all fighting for a key role in The Hunger Games sequel - Catching Fire

We should find out within the next few weeks who gets it.

But the one major negative for Kitsch may be his awful year with Battleship and John Carter, along with his age as he is the oldest of the three.

We shall see

Ooo, Finnick?
I still don't get why so many people disliked John Carter.

Btw, Catching Book was a good read. Finished it over the weekend and now waiting to get some time to pick up the final book.

Just finished watching this.

I thought it dragged. The filmmakers could've trimmed 20 minutes of screen time and you wouldn't have missed anything.

Finally saw it. Loved it.

Jennifer Lawrence :pimp:

What did President Snow tell Seneca Crane before he was locked in the room with the poisonous berries?
