I loved the movie and even though they left things out and changed some I thought it was really good.

I do strongly agree that the shaky camera was distracting when they were fighting, especially the last fight scene. Or maybe it was because I had to sit in the 3rd row of the theater.

Overall I was impressed with the movie as a whole, I was gonna watch it in IMAX but %!%+ was sold out.

enjoyed the movie as a whole, even though i read the book and felt some things from the movie lacked development. cant wait for catching fire.

I just downloaded the book for $5 on the Kindle market, from what I've seen in this post it should be worth it. I'll check out the movie when I'm done.

The numbers are saying this will be the 3rd biggest opening of all-time,155 million, behind only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 and The Dark Knight.

The movie made over $155 million over the weekend

. I watched it yesterday and thought it was very good (having not reading the books). I knew this movie was going to be big but didn't expect it to rake it that much dough. Also, Jennifer Lawrence only made half a million for playing this movie. She better get a least $8 million after incentives on how well the movie did or she's better off finding a new agent.

I enjoyed the movie up until they stated changing the rules. I wasn't feeling the couples from the same district could win. I was looking forward to the dilemma.
It was to create a spectacle for the capital crowd. Everyone was in love with their relationship and wanted it to continue. Another dynamic was how President Snow felt about giving the people of the districts "hope" and then snuffing that out (hence the reversal on the rule change at the end.) When Katniss and Peeta almost commit suicide at the end, it was their way of saying "+$%# you" to the capital but they had to let them live.

Close to everybody in the theatre cheered when he came out and slammed Clove at the feast part.

and this is after her Oscar nomination?  the hell is her agent doing?

However, the filmmakers probably took the stance that they could slide any young, up and coming female in her

role and still crush.  Look at Twilight, the acting is
sick.gif
but for that demographic it doesn't

really matter

First, let's talk about the cast. Lawrence is a fine actress, having garnered an Oscar nomination on her first major outing.

But she's no A-lister. She's not the real star of the movie; the novel is. People will see The Hunger Games to watch Katniss Everdeen dodge flying knives and killer bees and forlorn looks from Gale. Ergo, producers reportedly paid Lawrence a modest $500,000 for the first entry in the Hunger Games trilogy. She also, however, gets unspecified "escalators"—bonuses if the movie hits certain box-office milestones, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

That may not sound like a lot, but it's roughly how much Kristen Stewart reportedly was offered when she first started out as Twilight's Bella Swan.

Now, let's talk about how much author Suzanne Collins might get: according to reports, hundreds of thousands of dollars. If the movie makes a big profit, her pay will reportedly go into the six figures. (Yep: She might earn more than Lawrence.)

The director, Gary Ross, reportedly got a paycheck between $3 million and $4 million; it's unclear whether he'll get any additional bonuses.

Taylor Swift's pay may be the toughest to parse. Generally, it costs about $1 million to make a hit single, including writing, promotion, producers, vocal coaches, the whole nine. Don't be shocked if that's what Hunger Games producers had to pay for the rights to Swift's song, "Eyes Open." (She also has a second song on the soundtrack, a collaboration with the Civil Wars called "Safe and Sound.")

And now for those producers: If the movie makes a bundle (and it will), you can bet that they will come out in Capitol couture. Just how much? Think somewhere in mid-seven figures; A producer for the first Spider-Man film is said to have raked in—not a typo—$30 million.

The hype surrounding this movie is RIDICULOUS. I know THAT many people didn't read the book.

The movie was good though. Besides the shakey camera and the corny love %##+, I liked it.

The corny love stuff wasn't real to her... She's still definitely feeling homeboy from her district. She just knew that if they wanted more help, they'd need to play to the desires of the audience, and it ended up working for them.

Josh Hutcherson "Peeta" is actually a good friend of mines. Cool dude in person, always good seeing people you know doing well!
Good. Tell your friend to give me my money back.

Not a fan, went in hoping for it to be good. Left disappointed.  I can see why people like it though

Okay. Now that I've seen the movie I still think it takes the main plot from Battle Royale, some elements from Deadman Wonderland, and presents it in a more grandiose manner.
But overall I thought the movie was good and I've even started reading the book just to understand a little more that was left out of the movie.

This was the first novel that I've read in around 10 years and I thought the book was actually dope. Just got back from the theater and I'm crazy dizzy from the camera angles. Movie was disappointing to me as it felt real slow and was less descriptive than the book. It's probably always like that but until now I've never seen a movie after reading the novel.

Honestly didn't know what this movie was about. Just went to see it cause my lady wanted to. As I sat through it, It started to remind me of another movie that I had seen before. Then it hit me. It was battle royale like everyone else in here has realized lol. So Im thinking that this movie was a remake of battle royale. But, finding out that there was a book before then says not so. All in all I thought the flick was pretty good. It was very predictable at times. I knew they were going to change the rules at the end because the way Gales feelings for Katniss. They set it up for a sequel for sure. The running man though? You cant compare that movie to any other movie lol. That flick is a cult classic!!

Just finished the 3rd book.

Saw it on Saturday. I like it a lot.

I loved how they showed the preview for the next Twilight movie and people booed....

Wanted to see 21 Jumpstreet but was forced to see this as the movie took over most of the screens. Playing every freaking 30 minutes.

I give it a B-. The concept was great but it had too much wasted potential. The battles were not creative, all you had were zombie teenagers jumping out of the bushes at top speed. The heroine only won because she got lucky, they almost killed her 3x. The relationship between the 2 from District 12 was very awkward.

The highlight for me was Woody Harrelson. I'm sure the book was better with its vivid details.
