Yo,
I was wondering if any of you have been to a World Cup event. I'm looking to go to Brazil in 2014 for the cup, but it's tough to find out pricing so far out. They estimate that rooms get filled to capacity months/year before the actual event. My question is how much should I anticipate spending? Plan on being there for 3 of the 4 weeks, and maybe going to 3 games or so. Anyone else looking to go?

God I can't wait. I want to go but that's not a reality.

Yeah it's definitely going to be a tricky process. I went to the World Cup when it was here in the states in 94. But I was barely six. I've been wanting to go to this World Cup for a while now and have started saving, however I have no idea how to go about getting tickets and hotel reservations and such.

My body isn't ready, hopefully I can get this Delta job to alleviate some of the costs

I'm in the same boat, info would be appreciated.
If my squad actually made it, it'd make it that much better. Its early, but we're struggling in the qualifier

I'll be going.

Staying with family on my dads side.

Expect to spend a lot of money. My trip to South Africa was 4500 us dollars and I expect more or less the same for other fans traveling to Brasil (at least those staying for multiple games)

I went to Germany World Cup 2006

Plan on spending around $500 per seat for the good teams. Even if you can't get seats to all the games you want, just being there is amazing. The atmosphere is

I can't speak on hotel prices but try talking to a travel agency that will have a better sense of that.

Like I've said before, If the money's right. I'll be down there, a few of my boys and I have talked about this before.

I don't even care to go to the games. I just want to be around for the atmosphere of the city and the other festivities surrounding it.

My roommate and a few other friends are exchange students from Brasil. We talked about this before with a couple of other friends, going there for the WC. So we would at least have a place to stay and food to for the most part. But dropping money on seats is another question

this is something i have to do before i die . bucket list priority . since US got screwed on getting 2022 this is the one im deciding to go to

The World Cup in Brazil is like the NBA All-Star game in Vegas. Seems like a great idea but no one is ready for the wild $%%% that will go down.

I've been looking into this lately too but I get random numbers.. I wanna take my pops but I don't want him to be around all that mass lol

Definitely planning on going.  Some of my family members are planning on attending, and I'll be taking my lady (her family is also going too- so I get to save on costs lol)

I've already been to Brazil.  It's DAMN expensive accommodation wise.  And best believe it will be worse by the time the WC comes around. My opinion, if you do hotel, book at the end of the end of this year, or beginning of next latest.  Pay a deposit to guarantee your spot.  Make sure you're at a credible hotel (Sheraton, Hilton etc).  If you do go this route, remember that  5-star or 4-star isn't the same everywhere in the world.  I stayed at the Sheraton (their 5-star) and honestly it was a 4-star at best.

^ that must've been an amazing experience.

I've been planning around going to Brazil in 2014 as well. Definitely looking forward to it (if it goes down)

Jokes on you guys! I live here, and I got those American and Brazilian tickets on DECK.

I'd try to catch a whole lot more than three or so matches if I was making the lengthy trip to Brasil for the WC, despite the costly ticket prices. Best bet is staying with family or close friends, most cost efficient option if available to you. For those attempting to save ticket money, going to the local watering holes for the WC matches is still a great experience and overall atmosphere. Especially the more beers you have and the more passionate/rowdy the fans get.
