Brazil 2014 World Cup

I'm down for info if anyone has it...I really want to go...saw packages on this site for $2500 for everything except plane tickets and game tickets...5 nights...idk if that's fair or unfair since I'm sure they're taxing like hell because of us visitors

I'm saving now. I figure 5000 is the minimum needed to do this right (ie safely). Honestly I dont even care about the matches I just think being down there and experiencing it will be worth it.

I can tell you this much get an apartment. The one I have for rip is already a lock for the World Cup. I ill try to post some pics after carnival.

Also I am in for making a group that works together to make this happen.

I know it is brazil but I may have to wife one down this trip for the return so I can just enjoy the games.

If anyone is going to carnival hit me up with a PM

Speaking of WC2014...I was browsing flipboard app on my ipad then i saw this article about prostitutes in Brazil are now taking classes to learn English for World cup 2014 and 2016 Olympics.

They are investing now for the future.

yup, saw it on CNN, NT 2014 summit

man i cant wait to go bruh. my college soccer team mate is from brazil and close friend. About 4-5 of us are gonna stay with him at his parents house :smokin

all we are waiting for the groups to be drawn and whenever tickets go on sale. i got about 2K saved up so far for brazil

The airports are going to be disgusting. I just hope the stadiums are finished on time.

I have about 3K put aside for it so far, Making a world cup Brazil group would be ideal. Someone should start one.

Since I created this thread I got married and spend my honeymoon in Rio De Janeiro, Tefe (Amazon Rain Forest) Brazil as well as Iguazu Falls, Argentina. It was the experience of a lifetime! 3 weeks.

So I thought it was time I bumped this thread y'all. So now the question is, who is making this trip? After researching hotels, apts, flights an all that, the trip is possibly going to cost me and my wife $3,500-4,500 per person for 10-12 days. That's a rough estimate because hotels aren't offering rooms yet.

I've contacted apt owners and the prices are absolutely ridiculous. Most want month min stays and are charging $25k or more.
Does anyone have valuable information that we might all be able to use?

I'm giving this one a miss, we were super keen after 2010 WC, but now other things came up (planning nice 10-12 day vacation on white sands somewhere instead). I've already been to Rio and Sao Paolo and I can def agree with dharv, accommodation will be insanely expensive. It was already high when we were there in 2008, and the locals said for a WC you can imagine prices doubling or tripling.

Traffic is disgusting, imagine LA two to three times worse. Especially in Sao Paolo.

For those who do go, take nothing to the beach but your shorts and towel, no need to flex too hard with iPods, iPads, etc. just blend in and enjoy the caipirinha's, work out before you go, cause for some reason in Rio, EVERYONE young and old works out lol. The tourist police will be out in full force, but so will the goons. Mainly your worry is petty theft.
Watch out for beaches at night, we stayed at the Sheraton and they closed the private beach at sunset cause people would come on boats, dock on the sand and rob couples.

Lastly, when booking accommodation, 5-star is not a universal standard lol, some of their 5-stars are more like 4stars...and so on and so on...

You'll see beautiful women, and women who you think are women until you get closer lol....

Fr those who go, enjoy it, looking forward to seeing your pics...

Thanks homie! Like you said, prices are outrageous in Rio. We stayed at a 4* hotel and paid $215-300 per night. I'd love to stay there again but my gut tells me don't wait for them because the prices are going to be unbelievable. Very tough decision knowing I can go on 2 trips for the price of this one (been thinking South East Asia & Costa Rica) in this next year if Rio doesn't pan out. I could very well sit this one out as well. I know I'll regret it. Enjoy life to the fullest, you only have 1. And there will only be 1 World Cup in our lifetime in the beautiful country of Brazil.

Plans in the works with a fellow NTer (the one who introduced me to the site) and our other friends.

It seems as though Fifa has a lock on all of the nice hotels. The 2 me and my wife stayed at during our honeymoon are at $500 per night. We payed $220-300. If anyone has crucial info please inbox me. Also, if anyone from Seattle is planning on attending inbox me. Maybe we could meet in the future and make it together.

Would like to spend the whole cup down there

:pimp:

Could you imagine the scene? Man...:smh:

most packages i've seen are going for about $4-5k per person. but that only includes 2-3 matches. i could see spending another $1k on tickets/gear alone while there.

not ruling it out yet, but it may take some help from my corporate sponsors....
