NFL/NCAA Feet: '12-'13 Football Equipment/Cleats/etc. Vol. Nike is back in the NFL!

Totally random thought but have you guys ever seen a player be so inconsistent to which brand he wears in Frank Gore?

I know Darren Sproles was like that last year. One game Nike cleats & gloves, next game Reebok cleats, Nike gloves, etc. I know he was a free agent last year so he was either trying to find something he would be comfortable with or he was trying to create a bidding war.

Those Chrome/Silver Vapor Talons would be mine if the accents was not yellow and instead either black or white

You can get close and similar looking cleats with ID, but no chrome bottoms.

I have also never seen the new Nike Vapor Jet 2.0 gloves in grey. Its funny, Nike used to produce tons of grey gloves, but not anymore.

I saw Alec Lemon wearing old school Magnigrip Elite Remix's last night in the Syracuse-Connecticut. Anyone know where you can still purchase those?

I also like the Vapor Talon's when the cleat is one solid color. Syracuse's all orange cleats are nice. I also found a picture from 2009 with Alec Lemon as a freshman and everyone in the picture is wearing Magnigrip Elite Remix's

It's all about what he feels comfortable in. I wore cutter gloves with under armour cleats before because the cutters have good grip and the UA cleats looked good but recently I've worn vapor cleats and nike superbad gloves (cutters have better padding in the palm). Frank obviously doesn't have an endorsement deal so he probably doesn't care.

Yeah both really good points. It is about the feel and what you like. I actually think Gore is underrated and wondered why no one every locked him up.

Yeah that was when the NCAA mandated that everyone wear grey not team colors. Now that colors are acceptable, you know Nike was gonna go crazy with the colors. Those Elite Remixes you can find on ebay but thats about it. I was lucky to grab the black/white pair off NDC and they mistakenly shipped me 3 pairs! Needless to say, I was happy about that. Those were really popular when they came out.

I remember very well the all grey gloves days. i knew Nike would go color crazy, but I thought with the amount of colors they have made, they would do grey as well. They make black and white, why not grey. I didnt even think about Nike not making grey gloves available to the public until I saw the Oregon players wearing grey gloves.

The Magnigrip Elite Remix's I have seen on eBay, but never in a size medium. I didnt even like the Elite Remix's when they came out, but now I regret not purchasing a few pairs. I like the original Magnigrip Elite's better.

Do you still have 3 pairs?

Close, but no cigar

I own a couple of Oregon cleats with chrome bottoms after you wear them enought the chrome comes off and its like a white/grey finish up under it so the out come will be the same if you plan on using them

if not just hit up a player on twitter and get him to get you a pair

haha- is that actually allowed? or do you mean former players?

its not allowed I dont think

but when my homies played I use to just say hey I need these cleats or these gloves in this size and then they get me a brand new pair or a used once pair

you know that D1 teams have over 1000 cleats at each school. Most schools still have brand new cleats from the past years.

go to about the 7 minute mark

Yes sir, one for practice and one for games and the other for when the other two go kaput. I personally like the original Magnigrip Elites the best, I try not to use those because I am pretty sure Nike will never re-release those and got the Magnigrip II's but those are decent compared to the other two. I did NOT like the grey trend, that was soooo boring to see, the color trend gives teams a chance to show some nice stuff and doesn't have everyone look exactly like one another.

Yup, I saw this a few months back. It is pretty cool to watch those type of videos.

Has anyone on here been to those Oregon Athletic Surplus Sales in may or something? they usually have a bunch of trainers , cleats and etc..

I havent but I heard tons of people show up

I been to Florida's n FSU's

GREY GLOVES DAYS -Im not saying I miss the grey gloves days, but I think some teams look better with grey gloves. Some examples would be Penn state, USC and Notre Dame. The same is said for USC's cleats. They should of stuck with the black cleats, white laces, white socks. Matching every little detail from head to toe is not a great look. A great example of using color's in uniforms in the way I think looks good is Chris Johnson. The Titans have a hint of red in their logo. Their jerseys are white/navy/carolina blue. Johnson will wear all red gloves and sometimes all red cleats. It breaks up the whole same color scheme from head to toe. It gives a good contrast.

D1 EQUIPMENT LOCKER -I always knew they had a ton of gear but seeing the numbers is crazy!! You often see NFL and NCAA players wearing slightly old school gear. I guess if you find a model you love and the new gear isnt to your liking then you stick with what you like. It is crazy to think of what old school gear gems are sitting tucked away in a corner of the equipment locker that no one pays attention to. You could do a Nike football history exhibit with some of the gear you could find.

RETRO FOOTBALL -Nike does a lot a retro'ing of older shoes. The do it for casual wear and for basketball shoes. Wouldnt it be nice if they could retro some popular older football gear. A few size runs of an old school cleat or a remake of the original Magnigrip Elite's. What do you guys think about Retro Nike Football gear? Good idea? Would you buy it?

I really like this idea, never had a pair of the magnigrip elites or the remixes and it would be cool to cop. Some of the older Nike midtop cleats looked good also

I feel like nike will run out of ideas one year and they'll do this to spare time

Totally love this idea and yeah you know Nike who retroes everything under God's green earth, will eventually do this to football gear. I'd love for them to re-issue the Jumpman Super Freak cleat and trainer (might have to rename it because of Moss not being with JB anymore), the Zoom Apocalypse I-IV, Super Zoom (Barry Sander's sig shoe) and the Zoom Jet trainer. If they bring out that one in the original black/silver colorway, I'll buy two pairs. And the Magnigrip Elites, two pairs as well. The best glove design ever in the history of Nike gloves imo.
