Coffee Drinkers: Come In

Only got into drinking coffee on a daily basis over the past year and a half or so. But for everyone else here that enjoys some coffee in the morning, what kind is your favorite? How do you like it? Whether it be at home or at a shop. When I'm at home in Sacramento, I drink some stuff called Ruta Maya that I buy in bulk every time I go to Texas (I've only seen it sold at Costcos there) with some sugar and caramel creamer.
On my recent trip out of state, I got stuck on Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Theres something about it that just makes it taste so good and I dont know what it is. However when I got back to California I haven't been able to replicate the same coffee taste with the store bought. Anybody have any ideas (anybody worked at a DD?)

Theres this one diner Ive been to and they have the best coffee hands down. The pot says farmer bros but Im not sure if that's actually it
either way black coffee ftw

If I make it myself, Folgers Black Silk.
If I'm on the go and buy a cup, Minnesota's own Dunn Bros. Coffee Shop, white chocolate

^^^ I was thinking about getting one of those machines once I started living on my own. Trying to stop drinking almost a whole pot every day! So does anybody know DUnkin Donuts recipe for making their coffee? I have a feeling its the cream I just cant pinpoint it. BTW that Bustelo as makes me wanna try it!

best coffee you'll ever have.

French Press, Milk and Sugar is for *******

I only drink DD if I'm desperate..
prefer cafe con leche made with coffee from my moka pot. french press is next best.

coffee buffs will swear by an aeropress. never tried them personally.

french press
black

not stuck on a particular brand as of now, but most of the stuff at d&d's or fairway market are pretty good

If I'm out I'm not too picky. If there's only a Starbucks around, I'll either get an Americano or just whatever dark roast coffee they have on the pot. To me, the best "mainstream" coffee chain is Peets. If I'm in San Francisco, I'll try to grab a cup from Sightglass, Blue Bottle, or Philz. I think my favorite method is just the simple pour over. Most nicer coffee houses do this now. I don't need all that fancy cold brew or vacuum brew stuff

.

I have a great little plastic pour over filter I use at home. I've gotten much better brew results using that and fresh grounds then I've ever gotten using conventional coffee pots or french presses.

i'm a vietnamese coffee person.

for those considering keurigs, take a look at the aeropress first. perfect americanos

moka pot + 100% arabica coffee = done.

If we talking caffeine content, then those coffee dripping machines give u the most but i dont mess with them.

But the most important thing to know imo is that arabica > robusta type unless u hate sleeping

sugar and milk/creamer is a no-no as well as those instant coffee's, nescafe's etc. Once in a while its ok to have em but moderation is key.

i live in san jose so its either:

I've been meaning to try Philz.

I really enjoy Peet's. Starbucks is good too. I don't mind McDonald's coffee either.

might look into a keurig since i only drink 1 or 2 cups. but i use so much damn cream and sugar

Will do this week. Thanks!

As for creamers, I only use half and half milk and a packet of sugar. Not a fan of hazelnut, cinnamon, etc etc creamers...Ruins the taste to me.

I hear it makes a great cup of coffee.

i think they use these at philz(?).  i enjoyed it, but can't speak for using one of these at home and making my own cup.

Coffee is one of those things that the more you read up on or taste, it's hard to go back to inferior stuff. Ignorance was bliss.

This is currently my set up at home:

Rancilio-Silvia-V31.jpg

The Rancilio Silvia is probably the best domestic espresso machine on the market. Retails at around $800 and a good grinder is going to set you back about $350. People who are far more knowledgeable on the subject than me say you can make much better coffee with a cheap machine and good grinder than a good machine and no/terrible grinder. Loads of people spend $$$ on machines but buy pre-ground coffee, just a complete waste.

Making a coffee can be like a scientific experiment too, making sure the boiler on the machine is the correct temperature, weighing exactly how much coffee you grind, timing and weighing the extraction etc etc. Loads of people take it to the next level and will add a PID to their machine so they can monitor boiler temperature exactly.

I can understand why a lot of people just don't bother making espresso at home and just buy it out instead.
